Pros: The Car was not available and I lost a lot of money and time due to the car not being there as arranged. It messed up all my travel plans and I had to scramble to make my flights and find a hotel as I moved out of my apartment that day. Terrible terrible terrible,,
Cons: There should be a law against not having the car there. Staff said a reservation does not mean you will get the car. Obviously, they sold my car to a higher bidder
Cons: Small airport and no one there except me and I was there at 7:45 am. Alamo did not open until 8. Other car rentals checked in customers before 8 while my agent took a smoke break. No a deal breaker but certainly not promoting customer service
Cons: Never made it to New Bern Alamo
Alamo at New Bern
Pros: The Ford Edge was a comfortable car.
Cons: Alamo insurance seems a scan. We took a plan when we booked but learned at the desk that it was no better than our credit card coverage. So the agent tried to sell us a more expensive plan available only at the time of rental.
Not the vehicle I planned
Pros: Comfortable
Cons: It was a truck. I didn't plan on a truck. Also it was $45 when I got to the counter and it was supposed to be $20!
Pros: I was running a couple hours late to pick up my rental car, and when I got there they didn't have the small car I had reserved for the weekend. However, the woman at the counter worked with me to find a car that I wanted, and I only had to wait a short time for them to clean the car for me and I was on my way! Alamo was running a great deal and the price could not have been better. The car was clean and in good working condition. Good customer service. Thanks Alamo!
Really unhelpful manager.
Pros: Non-managerial staff at the location was really helpful and friendly. Drop off was quick and easy.
Cons: Accused of damaging the car by the drop-off location when the pickup location clearly had failed to document pre-existing damage. Now embroiled in a battle with an overly self-important manager in North Carolina who thinks dragging an innocent customer into an inter-office battle is acceptable when it means enforcing the rules of the business.
Chevy Malibu
Pros: I loved how comfortable the seats were and how quickly the vehicle heated up.
I loved the fact the put exactly what speed you were going right in the middle of the dashboard, because you could be going 70, and only feel like you were going 50 or 55.
As for Alamo themselves, the reservation went smooth, the lady at the front desk was awesome, and the process went well overall. So, I would definitely rent another vehicle from them again, just not a Malibu.
Cons: We found that the touchscreen for the radio didn't work correctly. And we tried turning the column down and it wouldn't work, until about 10 minutes down the road it decided to work and turned itself off and then back on.
Also didn't like the way the vehicle would shutdown when you came to a stop at a red light or stop sign.
This is a grandma/grandpa car. It has no get up. So expect to have to push the pedal all the way down in order to get up a hill or to pass someone on the highway.
I would not rent this car again or buy it ever.
They didn't have a car
Pros: Nothing
Cons: Thanks to a lack of communication between Kayak and Alamo I was nearly stranded without a vehicle. Thankfully Avis was next door and they had a car and I rented from them.
