I ended up getting a car from another company because the line was ridiculously long at Budget- longer than 2 days previously when my friend waited at least an hour to get to the front. There were also people waiting for cars out by the car pick up.Reviewed 2026 Apr 30

The car was not thoroughly cleaned inside. Crackers, etc. under passenger seat. Seats not thoroughly cleaned. The rental counter was seriously understaffed. One person (and one out for lunch) for 25 waiting people. Person who finally helped us stated, "everyone is always in a hurry." Repeat renters in line stated that it's always like this because the rental is less expensive. I think 25+ minutes in line is unacceptable. We waited in line for over 90 minutes to get the car. Staff (2 women doing their best) said there were no cars ready. How is this even possible when there are reservations? There were at least 40 people in line. A few jumped ship @ went to other car rental companies who had no lines. It was all frustrating. Not only was I charged over $200 by the third party (QEEQ), but Budget has now charged my card once upon the first day of rental over $200 and now that the rental is over, my card is being charged over $800. 2nd time waiting in a 45-60min line for counter while all other rental companies had no lines. Once at the counter, I was told to wait an additional 30-45min because the car wasn’t ready or clean yet. Then I got the car and it was the wrong vehicle (Toyota Corolla instead of mid size SUV). I was already late for a reservation so I just took what they gave me. Been a long time and loyal member of budget but after my recent two experiences, I’m avoiding Budget/Avis at all costs.Reviewed 2026 Mar 14

Booked a car through kayak. Upon arrival, budget did not have any vehicles available. Booked another vehicle through budget customer service line at a different location. The online purchase said compact SUV but we were told that wasn't what was rented. Then we spent more money to get a better car only to get a small car that still didn't fit the four of us well (we only had carry on bags) the car was extremely dirty (spit and mucus on windows) not at all cleaned on inside or outside) we took videos of all the disgusting damage and dirt .Reviewed 2026 Mar 09

I was not able to use the automated system to extend my rental by 2 hours. I kept getting an error both by phone and on the website. This was frustrating as I could have known the financial impact ahead of time rather than try to get this information while on a trip. I had traffic issues on the way which caused the delay and stopping to try and use the system caused me to be delayed further.Reviewed 2025 Jul 22
