I left my truck and it was broken into on hertz property. And now 2 weeks later, I'm being charged 62$ multiple times multiple days. I bought the insurance, I filled up the tank, i dropped off on time and filled out paperwork as asked. We made a reservation months ahead because four of us were taking a trip out of town. When we arrived to pick up the car, the Nissan quest/minivan we had reserved was nowhere to be seen. We were informed that our "choice" was a Dodge journey or nothing!! It's a huge difference to go from a car that seats five people and seven bags, to one that seats four people and three bags. When asked if there would be a discount due to the fact that this car was several classes below what we had reserved and PAID FOR IN ADVANCE, we were told no. The whole interaction put a really bad taste in my mouth. I've been a hertz gold club member many times in my life, but my loyalties will go elsewhere after this situation. Pros:The vehicle was not cleaned inside or out. It had a very strong smell of cigarette smoke inside. The staff was not helpful at all and said that no other vehicle was available. I should have canceled and requested a refund!!Cons:The paperwork clearly stated the vehicle was a no smoking vehicle AND that there is a $400 cleaning fee! Cons:It was a surprise that on top of the payment I owed $80 in taxes. This negated the benefit of this transaction vs other reservations. Then, my flight arrived at 9PM. Hertz was closed. I could not get a rental car for one night as none were available so I had to Uber for $60 more. So not reserving here next time.Reviewed 2021 Mar 29
