Would be nice if Enterprise shifted some vehicles from larger airports (TPA) to smaller ones (PIE) to account for increased traffic, especially considering it was spring break. I had to take an Uber between from PIE to TPA to get a car. Cars were sold out at PIE for 5-6 weeks before spring break, so Enterprise had plenty of time to address the logistical imbalance. This applies to all rental agencies, not just Enterprise/Alamo/National. Jeep Compass is a terrible vehicle overall. Our rental was a Limited so it had bells and whistles, but it's like putting glipstick on a pig; vehicle was unrefined, very loud road noise, weak engine, very little cargo space, seemed more like a subcompact than a compact SUV. Almost no useable storage space aside from small center console (a tiny pocket below console would hold key fob but not large enough for a cell phone), since most space was taken up by comically oversized bezels around LCD screen and controls. Volume and tuning knobs are too far from both the LCD screen and the driver, should be smaller and closer to screen. Terrible gas mileage for a modern compact SUV, especially considering the Compass is equipped with 'auto engine off' to conserve gas at stop lights. Small fuel tank for a vehicle with such poor mileage, which also means more stops to refuel than should be necessary. 'Advanced' features were crude and poorly implemented. Lane keep assist pinballed between left and right lane lines instead of keeping vehicle centered. Auto cruise control would apply brakes hard then accelerate hard to compensate. Android Auto support was buggy and would sometimes not work. Did like auto windshield wipers, and liked that one fog light would turn on to provide extra lighting when turning a corner.

The vehicle was not ready at agreed upon time. Had to wait almost an hour for workers to finish cleaning it. Still was not as clean as I thought it should be. Sand from beach still in it. Outside did not look freshly washed. Floor mat was missing.

I opted for a convertible for a special weekend. Felt it was worth the $1,000. Well, turns out the Mazda X-5 had a cheap key fob and a security auto-lock system. My Florida cousins are all dealership folks. We had 5 guys trying to figure out this keyless entry while the Mazda idled in front of my cousin's house where I'd left one bag. Thank god his house is not on a busy street. Alamo 800 # rude, not helpful at all. AAA locksmith got it sorted out. I missed an entire day on the beach and worried my 80 year-old mother. For all thatstrees I was given a $50 discount on my $1,000 rental. Fine by me, I didn't want to talk about it at that point. 5 car dealers and a locksmith could not sort out this 10-cent key fob. We all know how the good ones work. This one was garbage. To Alamo, I would say, know your inventory. If you are aware that certain vehicles have peculiarities, such as a tricky keyless entry system, and a security lock-out system, then offer your loyal customers a 5-minute tutorial when they pick up.

I thought our rental deal was too good to be true. We booked through Kayak, But we were pleasantly surprised with the Tampa airport location. The staff were friendly and didn’t push any extras on us. The rental car was clean (Nissian Versa) the staff friendly & courteous. I would 100 % recommend them if you need a rental car in the Tampa area. Just a side note. I also look the car over before taking it off the lot, I also video the entire car inside and out for damage. And take pictures, it does take a few extra minutes but gives me piece of mind.

When I arrived, I was told that they were out of cars. This was a lie. I waited 30 minutes to get a car while hurricane Ian was bearing down on Florida. The airport closed 3 hours after I left. When I picked up may car I saw at least 50 Sixt cars available. They flat out lied during a hurricane crisis. They had plenty of cars, just none that they would rent to me. I had a full size but they had plenty of SUVs and luxury brands sitting idle. I find this disgusting and would never rent from Sixt or recommend to anyone.

It was good. There was some confusion at pickup as I was not given the correct information at the front desk and had to go back after getting the car and trying to leave. Everything worked out OK and the staff was very helpful in correcting the issue.

Added charges that I did not want or need after telling them I did not want the insurance. My fault for not verifying when signing but was told the $200 charge on my card would be refunded when the vehicle gets returned. Should not have trusted them to do the right thing and should have looked closer at the pad I was signing.

Once we actually got to a staff member (after waiting in line for over an hour because the Payless, Avis, and Budget counters were all combined), he was very polite and helpful. The car was new and it was very nice. Drop off was an ease.

Cons:

A warning at least would have been nice about the lack of staffing or the possible extended wait times. The fact that I set a pick up time and expected to go to the counter to get my car, but waited in line for over an hour instead was frustrating to say the least. I have appreciated an offered substantial upgrade or refund for the inconvenience.

The staff member in Tampa was terrific. We wanted to rent a Jeep Cherokee, and he went out of his way to ensure we got one. Thanks!

Cons:

The car was overall very clean, but there was a bit of sand in the back seat of the vehicle. I suppose that's to be expected since it was Florida and beach season. At any rate, it didn't bother us in the slightest and the experience was great.

The Tampa Thrifty rental car line wrapped the entire rental concourse and was 2 hour + wait. They overbook and under staff. We quickly cancelled our reservation with Thrifty and booked quickly with enterprise. Won't go through Thrifty again.

I didn't appreciate the "nickle and diming"; the final price was almost 3 times what was advertised with all the added fees and taxes etc. They should be far more transparent with the final cost to the customer. Staff are upselling to the benefit of the business and not necessarily that of the customer. I was offered a transponder but after closer inspection it would have been cheaper for me to pay for the tolls. This was very disappointing; I recommend better training and customer sensitivity workshops.

The pickup experience was horrendous, took almost 2.5 hours. The initial check-in line was extremely long. Once check-in was completed and instructed to go to lower floor to pickup car, you had to find an employee to put your name on a waitlist. The system was chaotic and unorganized. The entire process took 2.5 hours, I was late to meet friends for lunch and delayed my entire schedule. I was only in town for a night and required me to make alternate arrangements. Lastly, I was billed incorrectly and charged for refueling, even though I returned it at the same level I took the car.

My experience with the TAMPA AIRPORT DOLLAR RENTAL HAS BEEN UTTERLY DISGUSTING. They put me and my mother in a 2018 Nissan Rogue when here we are a few weeks shy of 2024. When you turned the wheel it made a horrible sound, the charging ports didn't work, the trunk didn't open and when you were at a stop light or idling it would shake and sputter. So I decided to drive 45 minutes back to the airport to get something better. Upon doing so they seemed to be annoyed with me. So after feeling that way I didn't want to complain when the car they exchanged with REEKED LIKE CIGARETTES. Me and my mother decided to just go buy some air fresheners and deal with it. We never mentioned the smell and now I 100% regret it. A few days after returning from Vacation I check my credit card and notice they charged me $400 dollars. I call customer service and am told I was charged that for a "cleaning fee for smoking in the vehicle" so I am now in the process of trying to dispute this charge. I have asked several times to see the notes from the previous person that rented the car to see if it was noted about it smelling like smoke and was told they aren't allowed to give me that information. DISGUSTING SCAMMING COMPANY.

Had the choice of picking which vehicle I would like to drive. The Nissan Rogue that I was given had 54,000 plus miles and shook when driven above 60 miles per hour. It had a number of door dings which concerned me before I drove off the lot. The attendant was helpful in reassuring me that none of the blemishes identified would register as damage that I caused when returned.

Pickup wasn’t great. The service was super slow, the agent had no sense of urgency with a line of people waiting to pick up cars. The car itself was filthy when we got in. Crumbs, juice stains, and liquid in the cupholders. Drop off was great. The staff was super nice (different airport than pickup).

When I arrived at the Budget counter and learned there was a two hour wait to speak to anyone I walked next door to a competitor and rented car without a reservation in 10 minutes. Budget’s complete indifference to their customers was very sad. I will never book with Budget again.

After a long and unpleasant wait I couldn't even get the car and had to return to the airport and rent from another company. It was very aggravating. I have insurance through my credit card and they were not willing to waive their insurance fee without SEEING my insurance policy. Who does that! In the end, I rented a car from FOX for the same price, the whole process taking 3 minutes and of course there was no issue with the insurance.

The check in was fine. The car was not vacuumed. Being I checked in during the evening I did not notice the car dings and I don't think the guy that walked around the car noticed them either. Should have a bright checkout area so things like that are noticed.

I liked the price until I got to the rental facility. I booked online and was charged for the vehicle but once at the pick-up location there were many add on charges. For example the app stated the rental came with unlimited mileage, once there I was charged an extra 27 for unlimited or they would charge me 50¢ a mile for every mile over 150 miles. Then after purchasing collision insurance online, they still needed my insurance info...and to top it off, they wanted a $500 deposit that would not get returned for 2-10 days after I returned the car. All for a one day rental?!?! Crazy!! But overall, they were nice but still have not gotten my deposit back yet.

Horrible - do not book with NextCar. They denied my car insurance because I was not the primary policyholder. I have full coverage insurance, so there was no logistical reason to deny it. The supplemental insurance cost as much as the rental itself. I was never told at the time of booking that I would be forced to use their insurance if I wasn’t the primary policyholder. I was only told so 24 hours out from my booking. I’m actively trying to get a refund for this.

Maybe I didn't read the fine print, but I didn't see anything when booking about our own insurance. We forgot our insurance card and had to jump through hoops to prove we had insurance. It's probably an upsell for you guys if we purchase insurance, but I feel that when booking, it should stick out more. It would have reminded me to bring my insurance card along. I'm about saving money, not paying for insurance I already have.

Agent at airport counter was hard to understand and seemed like she could care less. Disagreed with me when i said we had rented a midsize SUV and replied there is no such thing. Had my printed confirmation and she would not even look at it and said "compact is your reservation". We also said no to a prefill but found out later at another Avis we had prefill. WE told her no and when the questions popped up she repeatedly said just press agree it doesn't mean you will be charged. The SUV had 82,000 miles on it and after 3 days we experienced the battery not wanting to start. Very slow to turn over. We called the AVIS is Bradenton and they were very courteous and nice and we took the car in for an exchange, They actually were the ones that said we did have prefill.

car had a leaky tire due to no air cap. called to assistance line with avis, and they said to swap the car. i did that and now i have a bill for a tire damage. This is unfair, the car we were given had no air cap, no one advised us of additional fees and this was totally not our fault. Horrible experience, will never rent with Avis again.

I was told no smoking in the vehicle, it would be a $250 fine. No problem, I don’t smoke. When we opened the vehicle’s doors the smell of stale cigarettes hit us immediately, and the upholstery was covered in cigarette burns. It was disgusting. I went up to the kiosk to complain and all they said was they’d make a note of it on my paperwork. I won’t be renting from them again.

Rental indicated that they had 24 hours service - they did not. When flight was rescheduled for next day and I called to tell them, they would not guarantee the car I had paid in advance for, or any car, would be available despite having reserved and paid in advance for a car for 4 days. Also said I that if i did get there the next day more than 12 hours past the original time the rental would not be valid because it would have already been canceled in their system and I would have to make a new reservation. This is even though i was calling to let them know my rescheduled flight was 24 after the original cancelled flight. They said they could not hold a car even though I had already paid and could not give me a refund for any portion of my money. I WILL NEVER RENT FROM THEM AGAIN and will make it my personal mission to let everyone I know what a terrible experience Europcar/Fox Rental Car was.

Better to go with a major car rental company. They make their money by extorting people into having to use their liability insurance. You need $300,000 liability insurance, which they ask for. The first line of my insurance says Liability 300,000. No good! They say personal property liability also needs to be $300,000. Long drive from TPA airport. Required $2000 deposit and full copy of CDW docs to use your own insurance. Or required &100 deposit and charged $89 for a 1 1/2 day rental. Most companies accept credit card coverage or insurance card. Car was clean but had a strange noise Wind driven on the highway and showed a need for service before I was going to return it. Also when I went to drop the car off the office was closed and other customers that were trying to rent cars had been turned away and had to take Ubers to the destination. They said that the company had been denied insurance and shut down. I finally found someone to take the keys for the car and ended up paying $36 to take an Uber back to the airport because there was no shuttle

When I got to the airport and called for a shuttle to take me to the car rental location, no one answered. I kept calling, and finally, after close to an hour, a person finally answered the phone. When I told him about the reservation, he said it had been cancelled because I was late. I told him the plane was late, but that made no difference. At the airport, the two people at the information desk said that other people had also had difficulty getting through to the location in order to get the shuttle.

Pros:

Picked up at the airport in one of the rental cars instead of a shuttle bus, and got to talk to the driver about the company and procedure while going from the airport to the rental location nearby. I hadn't done an all electronic type of rental before. They made it easy. Once you got the app loaded it was easy enough. Nice clean new Audi A4. Also a drop off at the airport, upon return, in the car that you had rented, so you don't have to move your bags or ride in a bus back to the airport. Very convenient to get dropped right at the curb by your airline departure location. Great experience. Helpful people from end to end. I'd use them again.

Cons:

Loading the app on my iphone was a bit of a pain. I couldn't get the pages on the app to scroll correctly so I could fill out the forms. I ultimately had to fill in the needed information to sign up via my laptop. Once I got through that it was easy. And with the app loaded I won't have to go through that again.

I felt like I was rushed out of my car and could have left personal belongings behind easily. Also, the gas fee is overly expensive and I was charged $60 for a tank when the current gas prices would have allowed for a $40 fill up.

Absolutely terrible company. If I could give it zero stars, I would. I have asked for a refund and had to go with a different rental upon landing in Florida. They tried to take a $3000 deposit even though we already had external insurance. They advertise that they're in the airport which they are not, and they didn't even offer a shuttle - they told us to Uber. Upon looking at reviews, many people said that they kept and wouldn't return the deposits claiming unreal damages. They also tried to do additional toll charges and other random shady things, that they communicated through text. Also, when they asked for the $3000 deposit, and we tried to escalate it since it was completely unheard of, they didn't say anything and changed the contract back to $500 without telling us (to delete the evidence). Terrible, terrible, terrible company. Pay more and go with a reputable service.

Airport shuttle from airport: Good communication, minimal wait. They called my insurance company to make sure I was covered. I already knew I was, so that was a time waster. Our car 4dr Mercedes was clean however, it was dented in 3-4 places and had a broken headlight cover. Interior smelled like smoke. The car worked and did its job getting around. Passenger window would stick or not work going up it had to be rolled up from the driver side. When I got the car, I told them when I return I will be here around 6:30pm. We can get a shuttle back to the airport correct? I was told yes. Upon returning the car at 6:30pm we were told they were closed (closed but people were still there) and they wouldn’t drive us to the airport. He said his coworker explained they were closed at 6pm and don’t do shuttles after 6pm. Kayak and the rental company promises airport shuttles. We were not given instructions on how to drop the car off if there had been no one there. We were also told our 6:30pm arrival wouldn’t be a problem for a shuttle. The employee took us to the airport in his personal car which was spotless and kind of him. This has soured my experience with both Kayak and the AZ rental company

If you do not arrive within 1-2 hours of your reservation time, they give your car away and don't have backups for you! EVERYONE in that arrived on my shuttle were in the same boat; they didn't have any of our vehicles; they were simply telling everyone that their reservation is cancelled, we'll receive our money back (eventually), and we just need to go elsewhere to find a car last minute, at night. IT WAS A DISASTER! Thank God one of the guys working there took pity on my group since I had my 80 year old parents with me, and managed to find another vehicle for us. It was smaller than what we rented, but at least it was a vehicle. I'm thankful to the employee who bent over backwards to find us a vehicle, but York's policy of re-renting everyone's cars if they are not there within 1-2 hours is CRAZY! Everyone else got screwed. It was an awful experience. Oh, it it took HOURS for all of that to get settled. 0/5 stars.

After waiting in line for over an hour to pick up my rental from York, I was told by the counter staff that I would my personal (full coverage) auto insurance was still not enough coverage to rent a vehicle. It was proposed that I would either need to contact my insurance company to pay an additional ~$150 to tack on a rental car for the month OR pay York a $500 non-refundable security deposit, I should have listened to the line of other disgruntled customers in front of me, I ended up leaving with no rental, having to take a $40 Uber to my destination, and be carless for the week I was in town, I will NEVER use York again.

This was a scam. They were requesting that a customer have libility insurance of >$500 000. The other problem is that they did not have a class of car I paid for, but 2 classes bellow it and they told me that is what I can get for my money. I asked to talk to manager, but they told me they do not have one. I did not use their"services".

When I went to pickup my car, I had to wait ~1 hour to speak with someone at the desk. The agent I spoke to at the desk lied to me and said that I cannot use my personal auto insurance and had to use their plan. I call their corporate number later and the confirmed that agent was incorrect and refunded my money spent on the insurance. The car they had reserved for me was stuck behind several cars on the lot and inaccessible. Because of this they tried to give me another vehicle in the same class. The replacement they picked had visible damage/dent to the multiple panels, doors, and bumper. I started documenting all the damage in detail and taking pictures, the agent started getting visibly annoyed. He ended up providing me with a different car in the end. When I came time to drop off the vehicle, the lot nearly full and there was a line extending into the street just to enter the lot. I'm still waiting to deposit to be returned and I anticipating that I will need to call their corporate office again. This was an extremely poor experience through and through. I will never rent from Mexrentacar ever again, and I will never recommend their services to anyone.

The car was fine. There was a requirement to have proof of insurance. Not just the declaration page as stated on the walls in the office but the whole policy. This was not clear in the initial rental agreement. Also there were many unclear additional fees.

The vehicle was perfectly fine. Everything other than that and the shuttle driver was terrible. Not able to reach the property. Number listed is in Miami. $2500 deposit hold for 3 weeks despite full coverage insurance is unheard of. Facility is inadequate, seats are in disrepair. Agent is unfriendly. I would highly recommend dropping this company from your vendor list. While my experience panned out, two of the three other groups in their office woth us that morning, were not able to rent for whatever reason. Both were very upset.

I was in line an hour and a half. When I got to the counter thy said I was 30 minutes late for the reservation so they did not give me a car. I ubered back to the airport and got a car from Thrifty car rental.

In the website it is saying that you rent the car and drop it at the airport which is not true.We need to wait for a shuttle 30 min to take us to the place they have the car and there it took almost an hour till we finded a nice clean car.

Office Staff was friendly. Car was in good condition that I received.

Cons:

It's a long procedure to get the car. If there had been any kind of line it could've taken hours. Even in drop off. There's no need for a paper receipt if you're emailed it as well. The bus for the airport couldn't be bothered to wait for me to drop the keys. The guys who maintain cars and drive shuttle were not friendly. We seemed to be a bother.

Car was ok. But lot of scratched outside. Had to document carefully myself so that don't get charged.

Cons:

Reservation got cancelled due took showing up little bit later than 2 hours. Long wait to get there car. Way far pick up and drop off location. Leaves adequate times for drop off.
