Not greatUnfortunate timing: I picked up the car when the rental agencies were located in terminal but they moved off terminal the next day so that I had to drop off at a new location off terminal with a very bumpy train ride to the terminal. It wasn’t enterprise’s fault but the Tampa airport expansion now requires you to take this train from the rentals to a confusing interim location and then take another train to get to the gates, with insufficient signage.The man who showed me to my car was very nice but I have to say that it felt like a scam when he first asked me did I want to upgrade (and pay the difference) from the economy car I had reserved (I did not) and then upgraded me anyway because there were no economy size left — so had I said yes I would have paId unnecessarily instead of getting the upgrade at no extra charge per standard practice when no cars in your reserved class are available. He then tried a hard sell on getting me to purchase insurance, to the point of scare tactics no other rental agency has ever used on me (“you’ll pay the rental rate every day after you return the car until your insurance company settles the claim”), which left me feeling extremely paranoid the entire trip, when I have used my own insurance for rentals every time in my 20+ years of renting cars (and never before felt so paranoid about some other driver dinging my rental).

Car just as described. Good price for the rental. Located right at the airport so no shuttle, and pickup was very quick.Pickup sacrificed speed for detail (would have purchased a toll package if I was told it was available) and dropoff was disorganized (was a busy time for returns, to be fair).

Never renting from Alamo againthe car was prettyI reserved a car online 4 months ago. Two weeks ago, I checked into Alamo at the airport to get my car. The sales person tried to HARD-SELL me on an upgrade, despite my saying over & over & over I did NOT need a nicer SUV (she wanted me to upgrade to a BMW SUV) . She came at 3 different times and when I firmly said no 3x and she finally gave up, (all with my kids next to me exhausted from a long day of travel, I'll have you) she came at me again and this time for the insurance. I have excellent car insurance for which I pay a pretty penny that I know covers all rental issues AND I have AMEX who has great coverage as a benefit of the card do I knew I did not need the insurance. She then asked me who my car insurance company was, claiming they need to know bc that is how they make claims, but NEVER asked for my policy number. She claimed that SHE KNEW my insurance did NOT cover what I thought that did and that AmEX would not cover anything. I consistently said, "Ok. But I DO NOT want the insurance. I rent cars ALL the time and know what I am doing." When I refused the extra coverage for the 4th time, she said, "FINE," loudly and angrily. When I went to walk away she vibed me, and said with an angry tone, "Your STANDARD SUV will be waiting for you....." Her tone was so nasty that my my son asked why she was treating me that way and said, "Did she really just vibe you for not renting a BMW?" The car we picked up was supposed to be washed but instead looked washed soaped up & left to dry before rinsing. It had dried soap ALL over it. It was the last car of the kind we rented that would work for us, so we had to use it. However, for renting a car for over a week and spending close to $1000, the whole experience sucked. It is the first time I rented from Alamo and will never rent from them again,

Car rental prices are off the charts right now. I get frustrated with all the insurance options, gas and toll paying options. Budget basically said there would be multiple tolls where I was traveling so I paid the $44 toll package and didn’t see one toll the whole trip. I won’t use Hertz because of the smelly cigarette experience I had. I would be cautious using Budget again and probably go elsewhere. Many people in the same position from our hockey team weekend. Given the costs and pain of renting many just driving their personal vehicles next trip. Car rentals in a good spot now, but better get it right and stop being greedy!

I stood in line from 12am until 330 pm before I was able to get keys to a car. People in like in front of me spent over 4 hours waiting in line. No one communicated anything, it was an absolutely horrid experience. Budget had the audacity to offer me a 30$ discount due to my experience, I don’t know what monetary figure could help the experience I had after being almost awake for 24 hours but that certainly is more insulting than helpful.

Well when asking about gas prices. You guys said you had 2.56 per gallon. That was a lie. I had asked if the tank had some gas in it would I have been charged for a full tank. She said no but that was a lie too. I tried showing the guy checking my car in a scratch that was there the first day I got the car before I took it out, He blamed me for not showing them sooner. I’m not happy with budge car rentals and I’ll probably never rent another car through you guys again. I asked for a toll pass and I don’t even think I got it? But y’all can make sure to charge me 50 dollars for 4 gallons of gas. Thanks a lot

Spouse’s flight got in late, had a small window to get somewhere - guy at the counter couldn’t be heard through his mask and quickly pushed my spouse into extra charges and insurance that my spouse did not want or understand in the rush. Only afterward did we realize they added $300 onto the price we were supposed to pay. Very shady. Won’t be using this again for a rental car.

The vehicle smelled of mould. The vehicle required service and a tire service indicator was continually rendering the vehicle useless for long drives. It is impossible to contact anyone at Hertz. When dropped off we raised our concerns and agreed to accept a credit for 1 week of the 3 week rental. Julia Cohen (manager) assured me the credit would be processed within 48 hours. Notwithstanding, my credit card was charged the full amount and then sum. I will advise Amex that I will dispute the charge.

Liked: the automobile itself was clearly clean and fully functioning Did not like: communication between the employees was not ideal, as multiple issues were not communicated from the check in desk to the car pick-up area. Also, the employees did not know the difference between a car seat and a shield booster seat. That would be fine for an everyday person, but running a car rental spot would require people to understand the different needs.

Excessive charging for tolls (admin fee of $5 each toll even if it’s 32 cents on your SunPass). Needed to extend rental and customer service is difficult to reach. Everything is “send email” and you never receive a response. Much more expensive (back end charges) then renting from Hertz/Enterprise/Avis. Would never rent from them again.

This reservation was placed with Priceline. I do not understand the relationship between Priceline, Kayak and SIXT. Please be aware that I cancelled this reservation three days prior to the date noted on the contract. Priceline made me go directly to the rental agency to perform this function. SIXT charged a cancellation fee for prepayment and three days notice to cancel. I filed complaints with SIXT, Priceline, Department of Consumer Affairs and BBB. the service at pick up and drop off was very quickly. The car was really comfortable. I loved how easy the process of rented. I definitely recommend rent a car in TPA. I just recommend to ask for a not smoking car. The car I rented is supposedly non-smoking but obviously someone had smoked in the car.

There was an hour wait to get the car, which was frustrating after a long flight. The car smelled of smoke. It had scratches and dings on all sides and the individual marking the paper missed some of the most significant marks where someone just scrapped the front bumper on concrete. If I hadn't called it out, I'm afraid they would have assumed I wrecked the car and charged me. The car smelled like smoke. It was very disappointing. However, the car did drive well and the return was easy.

It was not communicated to us the we’d need a credit card to rent the SUV we reserved. Instead, because I only had my bank debit card, they would only rent us a full-size car. 5 adults in a full-size car was less than ideal. Additionally the car smelled horrible. They tried masking the fact that a smoker had used the car, which only made the odor worse. I will never rent from Thrifty again based on this experience.

The good: customer service rep was good, very friendly. Slick, easy to pick up and drop off the vehicle. The bad: there were 25 people in line before me at pick-up, so we had to wait over 30 minutes just to get to the counter. At first there were 6 customer service reps and it went down to 3 during the time we were waiting. Also, at drop off there was no one to tell that it the key fob had low battery and the back windshield wiper was missing on our vehicle (when we picked it up).

At the Tampa rental counter on Aug 8, 2021 at around 1PM, there was a line of 15 to 20 clients waiting to be served by...just 3 agents who take turn going on rest (coffee)break or lunch so really there were only 2 agents who spent between 10-15 minutes upselling all kinds of extras (larger car, insurance, full vs empty tank at return). The majority of the time the answer was NEGATIVE ; however, the agent who served me insisted that I must buy liability insurance although my insurance broker in Canada assured that my policy has a rider to cover Liability: another 5 minutes spending on arguing the Dollar agent. It took over 60 minutes from the moment I was in the line until I finally got the contract. By the way all other rental companies have no problem with a long line. Guess where I would rent a car in the future: for sure will avoid Dollar/Thrifty. Btw, I was supposed to get a Toyota Corolla or similar; instead I was given a Ford Fiesta (economy): not Right!!!!

It took a LONG time to even get through the line to rent the car. Only one worker. Then when we went to get the car one of the drivers that brought up the cars was a huge jerk. Car was pretty clean except there was a lot of chips between the passenger seat and console.

My Representative was pleasant.Only reason I ended up at ACE is because they were the only one that had a car for the time period I needed a car. They the reps are super hard sell on all the up charges when just the base rental fee was high to begin with. Not sure I would call a Nissan Versa a mid-sized car, but that was the 'similar' sized car that I had to take. Would be the last choice again.

I feel like the customer service person kept adding on extra and by the time I was done my bill was over $500 and when I booked it was around $250. She tried to add insurance until I caught that. Then told me there were tolls everywhere so then added on for tolls. I didn’t hit one toll booth. I just get money money back for tolls because it’s a scams. You would b able to tell if I hit a toll. I will not use this service only because the customer service was sneaky. I don’t like that and the toll booth is a scam.

They could have had a car for me. Used kayak booking site and it does not allow you to adjust the time of rental pickup. Got there at 10a and kayak set our pickup for 12p. I was told they didn’t have a car in the size I ordered. They did have a larger car for 3x the price I agreed to.

Advantage never showed up at 7 a.m. at the desk in Tampa. Ace Rental took my reservation at 7. They got into Advantage's computer. The car's transmission started having problems half way through the drive from Tampa Airport to my destination in Ft. Myer's. I called Ace, they called back and asked if I wanted a tow truck to tow me back. I said no as the car somehow readjusted itself when I turned it off and restarted it. Then I continued on the highway, and the transmission started having trouble again. I could only go 40 in a 70 mph zone. It was dangerous. Advantage said I did not show up for my rental. I said yes, but Ace took it over. I was told that was not possible. It was. The check engine light turned on. I sat for 30 minutes on a road off of the highway. I was told people would call me. They did not. I drive 30 mph to get to my sister's house with noises under the car. I finally made it to my sister's house. Later that evening, a tow truck dropped off a different car and took that one. The man could barely drive the car up onto the truck. He has to back it up and gun it. What should have taken me 2 hrs and 10 minutes took 5.5 hours. I understand that cars have mechanical issues. But it was the lack of communication and failure to take responsibility by the staff that was the most troublesome. I am considering challenging the charge on the car with the company because of the personal danger I was in on the highway, and the stress/amount of time it took to get to Ft. Myers. Paula Coffee

The first car had a front end shake at 44 mph and I had to drive it back over the bridge. Very unsafe and scary!!!! Advantage should have sent someone to pick this car up from me. This could have become a serious liability. I was not offered anything for the inconvenience and safety. Very dissatisfied!

Staff during the check-in process was great. The lady at the counter was very friendly.Getting the care was different. Unfortunately, Advantage didn't have any staff there and one of the other companies was handling their vehicles. The poor guy was flying solo while handling his company and Advantage. To top it off the first car had an issue with the seat and they had to get another car cleaned and to me, which added about 20-minutes. Also, if you can update the information on the site to show that the pickup location is in TPA's Rental Car Center. It shows an off-site location and I was momentarily lost until someone pointed me in the right direction.

I reserved a Compact SUV at a rate of $52 per my confirmation. When I checked in, I was told they did not have any to give me and was given a 7 passanger van which i did not want to drive due to high gasoline use and wayyyyy too large for one person. i was told they did not have anything else to offer me. When i checked in i asked for receipt and was told i would get one on email. I never received a receipt and not sure what my charges were. Was not happy with this type of service.

Booked thru a 3rd party not expecting to have to pay almost $200 more. All agent seemed to be interested in was upgrading everyone. Took over 30 minutes before I got to counter and there were only the 2 people with agents and 1 person in front of me.

No one told me I needed a credit card to pick up my rental, or I would have brought one. They said they could not run my bank card as credit or anything either, and I had to pay twice as much ($500 more) with a different car rental agency. It was extremely stressful

Couldn’t understand what the rep was saying. We didn’t understand what he said about getting the toll thing and where to pick up the car and whether or not we needed to come with the gas full. We went to first level than level two snd than finally level three where fox is. No direction. And this was after ten hours of travel. I won’t book with them again.

Once we actually got to a staff member (after waiting in line for over an hour because the Payless, Avis, and Budget counters were all combined), he was very polite and helpful. The car was new and it was very nice. Drop off was an ease.A warning at least would have been nice about the lack of staffing or the possible extended wait times. The fact that I set a pick up time and expected to go to the counter to get my car, but waited in line for over an hour instead was frustrating to say the least. I have appreciated an offered substantial upgrade or refund for the inconvenience.

The staff member in Tampa was terrific. We wanted to rent a Jeep Cherokee, and he went out of his way to ensure we got one. Thanks!The car was overall very clean, but there was a bit of sand in the back seat of the vehicle. I suppose that's to be expected since it was Florida and beach season. At any rate, it didn't bother us in the slightest and the experience was great.

The pickup process is a bit slow compared to other major companies which are right next to them in the terminal. In my case only two agents were at the desk and after completing the check in paperwork the agents leave the desk to walk each customer down a level to their car where it is inspected and photos taken. Then they return to the desk to meet the next customer, fortunately I only had two customers ahead of me so the wait was only 10 -15 minutes but I could see it being a long process if the line was longer. Ashley the agent who took care of me was great, she was efficient, pleasant and explained their process completely. You must have proof of insurance card with you and they do contact the insurance company to verify the coverage is sufficient and current so be sure to have that information or be prepared to buy their coverage. I would rent from them again when in Tampa if their rates remain lower then major carriers.

We thought we had a reservation for the evening when we arrived. We received an email that said if we didn’t pick the car up by noon we would lose it. We emailed customer service to see if they could assist us. The responses were short and stated reasons why it was our fault with no effort to help us with a rental.A reminder email to confirm our reservation and customer service that tried to go above and beyond vs the experience we had.

Nothing I was totally ripped off o got there and they said that because I wasn’t there by 12 noon my reservation was cancelled my car rental went from $246 to $611 and I was also told that there were tolls to where I was going I never went through a toll in all 6 days. The place was a SCAM!Maybe if your going to cancel someone’s reservation give them a phone call and also honor the original price I paid instead of nickel and dimming me.

We were unable to get a car. 2 hour ling line and Avis didn’t bother to tell people waiting that they had no cars left. Went to Alamo without a reservation and got a car with no wait and at a better price.

The car was nice enoughThe person who answered the phone when I asked to exchange did not explain clearly. It was very trying to get the right answer. He was trained to read verbatim but was not trainedto get the right answers to questions. Also the pickup was funbled. They gave me a car that wasn’t in the spot indicated. And after all that, you charged $100 extra an hour.

Avis had the best availability of cars in Florida. The drop-off was simple.The line to pick up my already reserved vehicle was almost an hour long. All I had to do was present my ID, choose my options & sign paperwork. Other car rental companies allow me to do this online.

Easy to reserve and pickupThere was no damage declaration form and I was concerned because the car had a moderately large sized dent on the front pillar over the driver door when we picked it up. There were no false charges or anything, just made me a little worried.

The staff was nice, the car was good. The turn in was great.The pick-up was very slow, the car I reserved was not available, it took an excessive amount of time to place me into a vehicle that would work, but the internal space available and the gas mileage were considerably worse than what I requested. The car was clean, but not fully cleared.

Office Staff was friendly. Car was in good condition that I received.It's a long procedure to get the car. If there had been any kind of line it could've taken hours. Even in drop off. There's no need for a paper receipt if you're emailed it as well. The bus for the airport couldn't be bothered to wait for me to drop the keys. The guys who maintain cars and drive shuttle were not friendly. We seemed to be a bother.

The checking agent was rude and appeared very unhelpful. we waited for over 20 minutes because no one was at the office at 6 am. There was quite obvious damage to the car door which was not logged previously by the company- if we weren't thorough, we could have missed it in the dark and be liable.

Rip OffThe price was right going in. But renter beware! The will find a way to gouge you!I picked the car up at 3am in a poorly lit parking lot. Afterward u noticed some pre-existing damage on the car. After several 20 minute dropped calls u spoke with the manager Sam. He interrupted me as I was explaining the damage on the car. No problem! Just let them know when you return the car! Complete lie! I go to return the car. I explained the situation. The guys first response: Sam is not here! Fill out this accident report! When I told him I was going to write a poor review he just laughed! Eventually Sam came over and said I signed off on the car so therefore I was responsible! I intend to pursue this through the media!

DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THIS COMPANY IN THE UNITED STATES. I was in their office two times for a total of 4 hours and every single customer who walked in was completely dissatisfied, so I know it can’t be an isolated incident. They didn’t have the vehicle I rented (they didn’t seem to have any vehicles) so they stuck me in a beat up minivan that seems like it hadn’t seen a vacuum in months. I refused the rental and wanted to cancel and go over to the rental car company that starts with an e. I was told I cannot cancel and that I will never get my money back. I was advised to go through with the rental despite the situation. I spoke to my cc company and they told me to document and record everything so I did. The office conveniently doesn’t give receipts or paperwork for ANYTHING. Long story short we ended up at another car rental company and will never do business with easirent ever.

I would steer clear of this company. They say they are at TIA on site, but that is not true. They are not even represented in the Tampa IA rental car terminal, and I had to ask information how to find them. A van picked me up and took me to a shady looking operation about 5 min away. The facility was dirty and I was not shown digital copies of the documents I was signing; they said it would come to my email. Be very careful and demand to see what it is you are signing, as they will hoodwink you into allowing them to charge your credit card for up to 60K if you are in an accident, and there is an option to decline this clause, but they do not disclose the clause, nor the option to decline. They also had me pay in advance by charging my credit card for the rental, in addition to putting a pre authorization on my card for the amount I was already being charged. They also required proof of my personal insurance, a first in my over 30 years of renting cars, which was inconvenient because who travels with proof of auto insurance when renting a car. This requirement was also not disclosed prior to my reserving the car. My car was dirty and not in great condition. This company is shady at best and I will never use them again.

The car ran very well and the office staff were excellent. My only 2 issues which ranked a good instead of excellent were: the window cleaning was awful and the cleaning smell was nausiating. The front window had a fog look to it. I had to rub it down to see clearly. I only drove with the windows open for the first 4 days as the cleaning smell was overpowerful and made me nauseous.

My experience with EasiRent car rental at 5124 West Cypress Street, Tampa Bay, Florida 33609 on 10/05/2021. The person I dealt with was Andy S. (AS7) on the rental agreement. I am disputing $84.00 for the toll package sold to me and $14.41 for additional fees and taxes because of the toll package charge for a total of $98.41 in dispute. Everything started out ok until Andy S. got to the up-sell portion of the car rental transaction covering insurance, tolls etc. After declining all of the insurance offered to me, he asked if I was interested in buying the toll package that they had to offer for $12.00 a day. He told me that it covered any and all tolls I would go through for the time period of renting the car. (7 days) I asked him why I would need a toll package because I’ve been in the area in the past and don’t recall going through any tolls. He asked me where I was heading. I told him I was going to Treasure Island on the coast. He then told me in no uncertain terms that there was an unmanned toll booth (all electronic license plate readers or transponder readers) to get on and off of the island and if I did not buy the toll package that I would be charged for any toll I went through plus I would also be charged a $25.00 administration fee for each toll. He then told me that buying the package for $84.00 for the seven days would give me the freedom to go on and off of the island as many times as I wanted without more charges. So, ONLY based on his misrepresentation about the tolls and his insistence that there were unmanned tolls booths on the way to and from my destination did I buy the toll package. After using the car for the seven days and going anywhere I wanted to go, I never went through a toll booth nor did I ever see one or hear of one in the area. I believe Andy S. lied straight to my face to up sell the toll package me. When I returned the car on 10/12/2021 I confronted Andy S. about the way he sold me the toll package and told him I never went thought a toll the entire time I had the car. He got very defensive and told me “Well you agreed to buy it.” I told him “Yes only after you lied to me about the toll issue”. He then walked away shrugging his shoulders saying “there wasn’t anything he could do about it.” After I got home, I tried to call the location a few times to try to talk to a manager but the phone just rang and rang without anybody answering it. I then tried to call the corporate office. When the call was answered by an automated answering system, I was put on hold for a few minutes then disconnected. After a couple of tries I gave up. After all of this this happened, I took some time to read some reviews of this place and noticed several other people complained about the same tactics used on them including the toll package and up sell and nobody answering the phones. I will NEVER rent from them again. Pickup at airport on Sunday morning was a long wait. Customer service rep (Judy) was courteous and friendly...really wanted me to activate SunPass for tolls, but never mentioned how much it cost. We were half an hour early; told full size reserved was not available, provided with Nissan Kick SUV. Drove from Easirent to IHOP (1 mile) and Malfunction warning showed up on Dashboard. Took the car directly back to Easirent and was told this was okay. The company disabled some of the features and it was just fine to drive the car. Drove to Sailport Waterfront Suites, 3.7 miles from Easirent with malfunction warning all the way. Parked the car and did not drive it until Wednesday morning. Drove to Clearwater Mall, 10.4 miles from Sailport with malfunction warnings. Started car to return and saw Key Malfunction; emergency brake malfunction, warning lights for ABS, tire pressure, and several others. Stopped at gas station to top up. Realized Gas Gauge and Speedometer were not working. Drove back to Sailport VERY Carefully and tried to call Easirent. Finally got thru to Easirent and my husband was told he could bring it in and swap for another car, but if he just wanted to turn it in, there would be no refund. It was due back Saturday morning anyway. He decided to just park it. Tried to use it Friday night to go to dinner, but the car would not start. Left it in frustration. When he returned he tried to call Easirent, no answer, finally got an answer and was told that it was our responsibility to return the car. No assistance from Easirent. I took over at this point and called Progressive (our insurer) for Roadside assistance (GREAT service!). While I was on the phone arranging a tow, the rep asked if the car could be placed in neutral. I went down to try and the car started! I put the tow on hold and my husband immediately took the car back to Easirent to turn it in. Still showing malfunction warnings. Of course, no warnings showed up when their rep got in the car and started it at Easirent. I was told by my son, that the rep tried not to smirk, but wasn't really successful at being sincere in apologizing and assuring my husband that the car would not be rented out to anyone else before being completely checked out. Never Again!

New rental company experiencePicked up at the airport in one of the rental cars instead of a shuttle bus, and got to talk to the driver about the company and procedure while going from the airport to the rental location nearby. I hadn't done an all electronic type of rental before. They made it easy. Once you got the app loaded it was easy enough. Nice clean new Audi A4. Also a drop off at the airport, upon return, in the car that you had rented, so you don't have to move your bags or ride in a bus back to the airport. Very convenient to get dropped right at the curb by your airline departure location. Great experience. Helpful people from end to end. I'd use them again.Loading the app on my iphone was a bit of a pain. I couldn't get the pages on the app to scroll correctly so I could fill out the forms. I ultimately had to fill in the needed information to sign up via my laptop. Once I got through that it was easy. And with the app loaded I won't have to go through that again.
