I used hertz at the tulum airport because the other rental place had awful reviews but i cannot imagine how it could be worse than hertz. Pickup: you start at a line inside, which took about 30 mins to get through. Then once we were done there they told us we had to wait 40 more minutes (not sure for what- they didn’t tell us) and told us to just hang around and someone would get us. No one came to get us so after 40 mins we went back up and they told us to go outside. There was another line!!! This line was even worse because it was in the direct sun and super hot and no one outside appeared to know what they were doing. Waited about 30 more minutes for them to tell us the car needed to be washed still. We told them we didn’t care so they gave us the car dirty(fine) and not filled up with gas (!!!) The car itself was fine. Nothing broke through the ac seemed to be funky a few times. Drop off: less painful than pickup but still not a smoothness experience compared to other drop offs. Drop it off outside, then they tell you to go wait inside to “check out” and the most annoying part here was that there was a pretty long line and what appeared to be about 6 employees just sitting there on their phones. Not a great experience when you know people are probably in a time crunch since we’re AT THE AIRPORT. Overall get charged any extra fees like fake mileage/damage or anything so not a scam but just a pretty poorly run business.Reviewed 2024 Nov 10

Terrible experience. You book for 60$ online and they force you to take insurance for 140$ additional cost. Feels like a rip off.Reviewed 2024 Sept 19

Pick up took ages… When the contract was finally signed, after having to pay a massive insurance surplus for a limited coverage, the personnel did not find the assigned car. We had to wait at least half an hour at the parking lot until the personnel showed up with the car. Once the car was found, it turned out the car was still dirty and thus not ready for delivery. Another long wait for the car to be washed. We finally took possession, but had to ask the personnel to do some additional cleaning in the copilot’s place, as it was still dirty. Whilst I had agreed to a partially filled tank, after driving just a few miles, the indication jumped to a lower level, not really reflecting the gas tank level I had agreed to. The water tank for washing the windshield was empty, which we noticed only later. Due to rain and dirty roads we had to fill it at a gas station… Drop-off in Mérida was efficient. Car worked well.Reviewed 2024 Apr 13

They did not have the car we booked, overcharged for the car we received, overbooked what was shown on our receipt.Reviewed 2024 Apr 03

The actual cost of the vehicle was more than double the price that was quoted to me on Kayak.Reviewed 2024 Mar 28

Terrible. They had 0 cars available. I had to take a bus to the airport to pick up the car and they didn’t tell me until I arrived. They gave me no discount. I wouldn’t rent with them again.Reviewed 2024 Mar 21

We got a confirmation that our car was reserved. After waiting in line for about an hour we heard that there were no cars available. After insisting they could give us a car that was quite a bit more expensive. Not amused we opted for that, but it took them another hour to "unlock" the car in the system. We decided not to wait any longer and cancelled the whole thing and took a taxi to bacalar, which ended up even being cheaper. Horrible customer service!Reviewed 2024 Jan 13

Hi, I had to travel an hour go get to the hertz store in Tulum. One arrived, the representant told us that the car was no longer available and that hertz was not able to honor my reservation. Without compensation, the hertz representative told us to leave without a car rental, with is the total opposite of what customer service is. I had to take another taxi back to my hotel and lost mu entire AM. What compensation are you offering to your customer in these cases? Regards,Reviewed 2024 Jan 03

Cons:They scammed me. I went to my time to pick up and told me they did nit have any cars. But I could have a car for 125..00. Then I called kayak and hertz. No help for me at all. They still charged my credit card and I never got a car to rent. I will take my complaint to the top to get this fraud stopped. **be careful do not rent from kyak or Hertz on here, it is a TOTAL SCAM!Reviewed 2021 Feb 24

Cons:There were no vehicles available. Wasted my time driving to this rental location only to be told I’d have to wait a day and pay 10 times the amount advertised.Reviewed 2021 Jan 10
