The reservation agent charged me two extra hours (almost a full day's rate, three hours would have been a full day's rate). I was unaware I was a little more than an hour early, I had made the reservation a month and a half ago. When I noticed the total amount was more than what was on my reservation paperwork I was told it was because I was early. When I said I could go have lunch and come back in an hour the agent replied she's already opened the reservation and couldn't change it now. She said she could only cancel the reservation and that I'd be free to make a new one. This was during the covid car shortage and they were turning away people due to the shortage of cars and the cars that were available were renting at a premium. I know canceling a reservation is not the only option unless it is a new company top down policy.8.0 Very good

And, I felt ripped off by all the extra fees, etc. Based on the "advertised" Kayak price, we should have paid much less buying making an advance deposit. The fees drove up the total significantly. Counter agent in Palm Springs could have honored the original terms in the reservation from the beginning. The first contract he generated had the price at almost $900, the reservation price was about $398.00. It was corrected when I pointed it out to the guy.Budget

I have no issue with having to exchange the rental on the renewal date each month. What was extremely annoying was the email that I received on the first occasion. The wording was offensive and made me feel that there was an issue with me as a customer. For instance,, there was no explanation as to why the car had to be returned and the wording was "we are not extending your lease and the car must be returned to the nearest Budget airport office as soon as possible."8.0 Very good

Cons:
The VW Atlas was a rattle trap. It took a bit to realize the backup camera didn’t go off after reversing the car, you have to manually touch the screen’s X to make it go away. I thought the V-6 was unresponsive. We figured out how to delete prior users smart phones that were constantly trying to pair with the car. Little things yes, but something that Avis could take care of when the last few people turned the car in. It did allow me to give the Atlas a thorough test drive as I had been considering it in a field of SUV’s to purchase.Enterprise Rent-A-Car

I left a portable battery charger and cord in the center console. I went back to the Enterprise desk at PSP within an hour of returning the car. Was told car was on the ‘back lot’ for an oil change. And the back lot closed at 4pm. Promised to call next day which someone did. They found a cord that wasn’t mine ap obviously it wasn’t from my car. I had to buy a new one which cost over half what the car rental was. My fault yes. But either I was being fed a line about the oil change or else someone helped themselves to a charger. Second bad experience with Enterprise on a row. Rental in Portland lasts a month- reserved a compact but all they had was an aptly names Armada or a a pickup truck. I ended up spending over $100 on gas for the week.10.0 Wonderful

I had heard that it was "high season" in PSP, which can jeopardize the availability of a rental being available.
