Need to be honest with clients. When I picked up the vehicle I was offered to pay $8.00 dls and not need to worry to return the vehicle with a full tank of gas which I agreed to pay the $8 dls. After i returned it I noticed they charged me $98.00 dls extra for filling up the tank when i returned the car with a 3/4 of the tank full. I’m very disappointed with Alamo how they still money.

I chose sixth because on KAYAK it says that their rental car agency is in the terminal as opposed to the shuttle. Every rental car agency in the San Diego airport is in the rental car center which is a long way away from the airport and requires waiting in a huge line to get to it. The counter was understaffed – I canceled on the spot and booked Avis which is what I should’ve done from the beginning

Did the “time saving” pre check in to avoid lines the day of and we still waited over an hour to even see an employee much less be given our vehicle. First one had something wrong with the engine that forced us to drive it back and return it the same day. Adding more time and headache to this experience.

Pickup at SAN was a nightmare. Dollar gave me online checkin and it still took about 57 minutes to get my car and exit the rental area. They were understaffed, ignorant of the process, and inefficient.

Car was comfortable, clean and drove easily - lousy mileage, but we got the sense that Californians dont care much, given the number of gas guzzlers we saw on the road at over $4.00/gal in most service stations - mixed in with Tesla's and Prius's. Odd contrast.

All good with exception of Drop-Off. Unclear directions in the final stretch of the exercise (needed to turn up a lane in the garage that was hidden behind other cars). No staff present and when a fellow eventually showed up, he did not check the car, just told us to leave the keys in the car and all else would be dealt with - whatever that means - if there is any disagreement on gas (we filled up), damage (there was none), etc., how would one verify it after the fact?

After travelling all day and then having to tale an airport shuttle.to a.counter who's line is out the door with only one person working is highly disappointing. The wait to move was awful. The check-in line was long, which is understandable. However, the staff was so uninterested in welcoming people or talking at all. They just seemed like robots processing forms. At drop-off, they tried to suggest damage, which was already there, and mentioned dog hair in the car...which was somewhat offensive because we didn't have a dog in the car. The value, the shuttle to and from, and the car were excellent. Just have nicer employees, and it would be great!

I was promised SUV but they didn't have any. They gave me a mini van, I asked for a discount since minivans were cheaper to book than SUVs, I even showed it to him on Kayak.com right there. I demanded an SUV or better but I was not given. The guy did not even apologize for the inconvenience. it was just take it or leave it. I requested to cancel but they said they can't return money. I have to contact Expedia. I didn't even make reservation through Expedia. There is no shuttle from the airport to Economy Rent a Car. They said I should have received an Uber code but I never did The car was heavily dinged and I was not comfortable taking a car with so many scratches as they could claim I did some of them at return. Thankfully they did not. Still, I had to take extensive videos The gas tank for 3/4 full. How do you return 3/4 full gas tank? So I ended up losing 1/4 gas by returning full gas. Overall, not a good experience. At a minimum the guy could have been polite and considerate...that was the most disappointing part Will likely not rent from Kayak again since there is no way to ensure I'll get the model I pay for and it's not possible to get refund

The next Morning i saw a lot of scratches all over the car and took my own pic just in case they said I did it. The car had not been cleaned and the dashboard looked like it had been hit with a blowtorch. Terrible shape considering the car only had 35k miles on it. The service people were nice enough but seemed flummoxed about offering me a different car when the one I ordered was not ready.

Dealer’s choice will convince you to get an upgrade, the default a 2-door manual crank window car. Other companies at the same price would give you a normal 2015 or newer car. Ended up paying 50% more for the upgrade.

I was initially supposed to get my rental for the price of $177 for two days, but by the time I was done at the rental counter, I owed over $400 for the same car and amount of days. The counter agent said this was because of the fees that weren't included on the Kayak quote. This is unacceptable and I won't be using this service again.

I called the day before we picked up our rental and the quoted price was $146. When we arrived, they told us our car rental was going to cost closer to $400. I was displeased but we needed a car as we were on vacation. So if you are considering utilizing ACE, beware that the quoted price is way below what you will actually pay.

Wasn't even able to rent the vehicle due to me living in san diego and wanting to rent it to go to las vegas and back couldn't take it out of state, but if I wasn't from here I was told i could rent the car and take it wherever I wanted. Won't be renting from them! You want a great rental car place go with Enterprise, have nothing but rave reviews for them and was able to rent within ours of being told no from Ace!

When I arrived to pick up my vehicle there was one employee working the desk, with quite a long line to even talk to a worker. Once I got inside the employee asked for my ID and credit card. I was then told the car I requested had not been available for about a year. He then tried to offer me a SUV priced at $412 compared to the $249 I was quoted. I had to leave the building to consult with my party only to have to wait about another 20 mins outside . Once I get to the counter for the second time the clerk then informed me of the under 25 clause and then it was going to be another $114 on top of the $412. I believe this to be highly unprofessional and requested a refund for the insurance. The employee said he could do that. I then called Priceline who I did my insurance through and was laughed at and hung up on. I called back and was told that I could expect a refund in 3-7 business days for the $88 I paid for for the insurance due to the car not being available. It’s been 7 days however and I still have not received the $88. This rental was felt with extremely unprofessionally. I’m highly disappointed.

Nothing because they said or we scheduled to pick up the car at 6:00 PM and it was confirmed. We received emails for 6:00 PM pickup. When we went for pickup they were closed and there was already a customer waiting who said he had have a really hard time getting a car there. The gates were closed, no car for us. The response was “guy leaves 6:00 pm on the dot” Really? Worst place to book from. Never book your car here unless you want to take the risk of not having a car to drive when you get there.

this rental company should clearly indicate international customer have no option but they have to paid the liability insurance and it cost 16/day so customer don't get frustrate and choose the other rental car that does not mandatory on this. also they should need to mention that they don't care about the customer so they don't answer the phone no matter what and you need to find yourself to get to the rental car company. for customer, i will say look at the review before book this company and if they are lazy or stupid enough like me then they will learn the lesson hard way.

Staff was super friendly at both the pick up and the drop off. However, I don't appreciate the fast talking sales person trying to upsell is a shady manner. Suddenly my one way rental jumped from $70 to $130 but luckily the customer service guy on the phone and the staff at the drop off location were super helpful, understanding and accommodating.

Cons:

Explain all the charges clearly and slowly and include actual pricing info instead of trying to just get the most out of every customer. People are on strict budgets these days and lack of transparency and not having the customers best interest in mind will cause you to lose business.

San Diego Budget rental agent provides excellence service. LOS ANGELES too except the shuttle bys driver not a vey pleasant experience . We requested to be drop off at the departure area @Tom Bradley Intl AIrport but she drop us off like a piece of luggage at the arrival and told us to walk. She's rude , we have to walk 1/2 a mile to find the departure. That's a bad customer service. I was going to hand her a tip but because she did not treat us with at least a standard customer satisfaction I told myself she doesn't deserve it.

I had a rough time getting my car. We booked Hertz from Santa Ana to San Diego. I had the same reservation in both car rental locations. But I had to pay an upgrade in San Diego. I was also charged 4x my quoted price which was annoying. I don’t recommend the San Diego Airport Hertz for your car rental. It seemed shady.

Unfortunately the truck was not cleaned very well. Peanut shells were found throughout the cabin and it was clear someone had smoked cigarettes prior.

1) there were no vehicles available upon arrival. I waited and other customers ran over and jumped line. The attendants weren’t staying around long enough to regulate. 2) the vehicle was smoked in, I tried to reach out to customer service over the phone and the rep did not take my info or care. It smelled horrible but I couldn’t wait for another vehicle since there were none and needed to leave. Horrible!
