The customer service personnel were EXCELLENT!!! They would be the reason I would return to Alamo rental cars on my next trip to my parent’s home!! They made the experience so smooth and efficient both getting the car and returning it, that I think I there is no other company that could accommodate me needs better!!!

I had already reserved my car and provided payment information. I didn't care for standing in a line with only one agent working to service all the passengers from an Allegiant flight. It was a 20 minute wait! I was thrilled to get a Rav 4 since I requested an intermediate SUV and drive a Toyota at home. It made my husband with Parkinson's Disease very comfortable with the surroundings as well.

Easy booking and pickup for the car. Clean and reliable cars to rent! The rate was fair but additional charges like gas was not expected as I was not mentioned about tank fill up. Over charged me for fuel. And drop off location needs to be more.

Staff was fine at pickup and drop off (especially at drop off)The only slight annoyance was the number of times the counter rep suggested I purchase their insurance. I understand it’s their job to present this (profitable) option, but two offers is enough, I didn’t need the extra attempts. But this did not change my perception that this was a very nice rental

Although not a new car, it had no issues, and was the right size for me. The staff was very nice, no upgrade pressure. Was a bit worried about the check engine light, but when I mentioned it to him before I left, he noted that it was getting near a service milestone. And as I mentioned, it had no issues.

Attempted to reserve and rent a vehicle to travel to Ohio for a job. Multiple issues with even creating a reservation. Once created could not be canceled or refunded. Was charged full price for a reservation I was denied being able to pickup at all. Very bad business practices and beyond poor customer service in any way as far as trying to get any issue whatsoever resolved

NothingI didn’t like how they processed everything, too fast and didn’t have a choice of car. I would of liked a compact with trunk not hatch. And again fast with the check out, I wanted to pay cash and they didn’t even give us a chance to ask if we could. They were only concerned how many miles I put on, and that I parked in the return section. Mind you it’s snowing outside and their parking lot is a mess. Safety first? Lol mileage should be my last concern, And besides I’m paying.

Fine Print: Read ItLow price, fast process, easy to pick up and drop offCar was obviously smoked in even though they claim a non smoking fleet.. It was like driving an ashtray with leather seats. Froze $200 of credit for 3 days past my drop off as opposed to date of pick up. Was very odd.

This was overall a terrible experience for me. The car was extremely dirty (both inside and outside) at pick-up. The drop-off experience was even worst. I made a reservation for a day, traveling from PA to CT for an estimated cost of $201.24 due at pick-up. I dropped off the car around noon (mid-day) on the same day. A few days later, I checked my bank account and saw that they charged me $631.33 (triple the initial estimated price I agreed with at pick-up). It turns out that when I dropped off the car, the agent did not add it to the system until three days later, which he confirmed to me himself. Then, he told me to call the company for a reimbursement, which would take two to three weeks. When I called Hertz, they confirmed that they charged me for three days instead of one and told me they would do what is necessary to deal with the issue. I still have not received any follow-up calls or emails from them. This is extremely unprofessional and irresponsible of them.I need my money back. The agent made a mistake that I ended up paying for.

We had car trouble with the car we originally rented. But Ben and Doug from the Hertz in Roanoke came and picked us up quickly and got us going in a new car. They were wonderful. The emergency roadside assistance was poor. We were on hold for over half an hour before we got through. Then it took them over an hour and a half to pick up the car. Fortunately due to Ben and Doug, we got another car and didn’t have to wait for the tow.

I made an online reservation for a one-way rental and booked a non-refundable motel room in my destination city. Got a call the next morning that they didn't have a car for me, that they didn't do a one-way rental between the cities. Personnel were polite and professional and apologized.Their reservation system sucks. It lets you make a reservation that the company can't fulfill. I needed a one-way rental to pick up a motorcycle I had bought a couple months ago. I tried several companies including Enterprise which I usually use for one-way rentals. None were accepting a one-way rental until I tried Hertz and made a reservation. I then booked a non-refundable motel room in my destination city. Got a call from Hertz the next morning that they didn't have a car for me, that they didn't do a one-way rental between the cities my reservation was for. Personnel were polite, professional and apologized. I told them their reservation system sucked and they agreed. I got the impression this was a routine occurrence - their reservation system accepting reservations that could not be fulfilled.

Dollar Rental (Hertz owns Dollar) I must speak up about this since so many levels of safety and trust were broken. I am scared that another customer will possibly lose his or her life and their family’s life if improvement measures are not taken to make drastic improvements to Dollar’s 24-hr Roadside Assistance Call Center customer care response. In September I rented a Dollar car to go from Allentown, Pennsylvania to San Antonio, Texas which equals about 2,000 miles. First night of rest is scheduled in Knoxville, TN. I was given a Mitsubishi Outlander Sport these drive 2,000 miles. On day 1 in Virginia, the Mitsubishi started to choke and not run properly - service engine light constantly indicating a problem. I felt unsafe driving it on the highway for fear the engine would quit and possibly cause an accident. At different times, the car wouldn’t go faster than 40 mph. I pulled off the highway in Woodstock, VA to seek help from Dollar. I called your 24-hr Roadside Assistance at 1-800-235-9393 from the back of my rental contract. This phone number does not go directly to a customer service representative at Roadside Assistance. The woman who answered would not help me but would do nothing except transfer me to someone else. I was in the queue for well over 20 minutes with no one helping me. No one asked if I was ok, was there an accident or any reason that I might need assistance. I called numerous times trying to get a person to help me and I only received ‘not this department’, let me transfer you to someone who can help’, and one of your staff hung up on me when I was being assertive trying to get help. I called Hertz’s Roadside Assistance, too, (Hertz owns Dollar) at 1-800-654-5060. This number took me right back to the same person who answered the phone previously and she continued to pass me on to the Roadside Assistance department. After 1 hour, I tried AAA. Her first statement was, ‘are you ok, in a safe place’. I cried. Here I am traveling with trust in Dollar to reach my destination. I am barely 300 miles into my journey of 2,000 with a car that is not working, Dollar service reps not willing to step up and help me but rather just connect me to another department and pass the responsibility on to someone else. AAA’s representative discussed possible options and the lack of options. The best thing would be to get the Mitsubishi to a Dollar Rental for an exchange. The nearest Dollar was in Charlottesville-Albemarle Airport in Charlottesville, VA, 85 miles away. It was not on the route I was traveling and would take 2 extra hours to get there with a car that is not running well and the service light constantly blinking. What would you do? At arrive at the Charlottesville Airport and am told that Dollar does not operate out of this airport despite finding it on Google and AAA had matching information. This 1-day portion of my journey still has 400+ miles before I can put my head down to sleep. At the Dollar counter in the Knoxville Airport a sign read: ‘Be back in 20 minutes.’ I went to the next counter (HERTZ) and spoke to CHERYL. She helped me! She accepted the Mitusbishi and provided me with a Chevy Equinox. THANK YOU, CHERYL…you were the only one of all the staff that I spoke with that helped me!!! No one showed up at the Dollar counter during my visit with Cheryl. Dollar’s rental agreements state: We never forget whose dollar it is. Dollar’s Facebook pages advertise: Make family memories. Safely. Dollar failed on these mission statements to this customer. I could overlook some of these difficulties to sheer randomness. However, when I add up the different attempts that I tried to get YOU to help me with YOUR product, YOU FAILED repeatedly. You were quick to take my money provided nothing would go wrong. From my first call to Dollar to when I decided to drive to the nearest Dollar, I had spent 3 hours trying to get help from your Roadside Assistance department. If your incoming call volume is that high that I needed to wait 3 full hours and still not reach anyone…then DOLLAR needs to improve their services, increase staff and training so that your customers do not need to wait to get the help that you encourage customers to use, if needed. I never got through to Dollar 24-hr Roadside Assistance. It is nearly 30 days later and I am still trying to reach someone.

Staff was friendly, quickThe car smelled like smoke, although it had only had10,000 miles it had a few dings. I paid extra to upgrade, also opted for the prepay gas option. It was deceiving. The advertisement said $2.49/gal for them to fill the car upon return but it was actually a flat fee of $40. I filled the car and it only cost $28.00.

Frustrating experienceCar was perfectly clean, and had better features (forward automatic braking) than most rental cars.Car was reported as full but came with 3/4 of a tank, though they did reimburse my refueling. The pick up was fine. There was no line and the counter agent was nice. The drop off was not ideal. There was no sign for Thrifty at the Philly airport. I happened to see some Thrifty vans parked in the parking lot of an office with a Dollar sign. My husband hopped out of the car and went into the building to ask if it was also where we should return a Thrifty rental. If he hadn't done that, we probably would have been circling the airport for awhile. Long story short, there should be better signage. In addition, an agent normally comes out to check in the car. I actually had to go inside the office to ask for someone to check in the car. It's not that big of a deal but it's nice when someone comes out - takes a bit off the stress of returning a car and catching a flight.

I think it is immoral to charge me $10 a gallon for a full tank of gas, when I did not use the full tank. I sort of understand charging a premium. The gas supply is no doubt right next to the wash and detail area, so it cannot cost much more for the service folks to gas up the car. It's just another way, along with selling insurance, that the Hertz car rental system gouges the unsuspecting.

Bald TiresI can’t really complain about the rate. It was quite affordable.Even if you are paying a good rate, you should expect that the car would at least be safe. The front tires had NO tread left and i was having to drive in the rain! Every time I would start from a stop the tires would spin out!!! Yikes! And when breaking the antilock breaks would engage. Definitely one of the scariest drives I’ve driven!!! Also, I had no idea that the location was NOT on airport like all of the other locations! Someone should apprise you of this so you don’t miss your flight!!!

Top tips for renting a car in Allentown

  • When you plan your vacation to Allentown, one of the major concerns you may have is whether you’ll be able to fulfill your itinerary within your stipulated timeframe. More so if you have to use public transportation. There’s a certain flexibility and convenience that comes with having a car as you cruise about in a new city. Most rental cars in Allentown are equipped with GPS and navigational technology, so getting lost is nothing to worry about. You also get the opportunity to experience some of the hidden gems inside and outside the city. For example, the Mattress Factory, which houses one-of-a-kind art installations and exhibitions, is 31 miles away. You can also hit the road in your rental car and take in the scenery all the way to the Mercer Museum & Fonthill Castle, located about 31 miles away as well.
  • Once you arrive at the Leigh Valley International Airport, you’ll have your pick from Allentown car rentals. The rental car counters can be found in the terminal close to the baggage claim. You’ll pick up your car outside the terminal, in the same location where you’ll bring it back when the trip is over. You can choose from multiple car rentals in Allentown, including Alamo, Enterprise, and Budget.
  • Once you hit the road in your Allentown rental car, some of the things you should be wary of are farm equipment and horse-drawn vehicles. Most of these vehicles are slow-moving, so if you’re not careful, they can present unfamiliar hazards. Most rural roads in Allentown may also be harder to maneuver because you’re likely to experience grassy berms and loose gravel. You may also come across unexpected turns and sharp dips, some of which may present driving challenges for new drivers to the area.
  • When driving in Allentown, the Airport Road northbound between Union Boulevard and Lloyd Street can be very congested, and you need to drive carefully here. Route 145 can also get backed up during high-traffic hours. The same goes for North 7th Street between West Union Street and West Green Street and eastbound route 222 Hamilton Boulevard close to North 15th Street. You may also want to be careful on South 4th Street and Union Boulevard, as the intersections can be quite hectic to maneuver.
  • Book your rental car in Allentown at least 2 weeks before your trip in order to get a below-average price
  • Intermediate rental cars in Allentown are around 18% cheaper than other car types, on average
