Called me morning of my rental and said they did not have the minivan I needed. Never called back after that. Luckily I used and found a different companyReviewed 2022 Jul 29

The car was clean and nice. When I arrived at the pick-up time, I was informed the car was not yet ready due to lack of staff preparing cars for pick-up. I had to wait an hour and was not offered a discount and barely an apology. I then asked if I could have the car for longer instead, and that was not an option, in fact they told me that if I didn't deliver the car at the time of return, they would charge me for the night.Reviewed 2022 Jul 25

Picking up was horrible. Not only did it take forever (nearly 90 minutes) but they lost the keys to the Jeep we were supposed to pick up. Instead of looking for the keys or doing anything, they offered an ‘upgrade’ vehicle for us. We asked what type of vehicle it would be to which the rep replied an Infiniti. We asked if the size would be the same as the Jeep. The rep said yes, it would even be roomier and would cost us $10 extra per day. The rep wouldn’t let us see the vehicle beforehand and we were told to wait. It was important to have lots of space available as we would be going on a 14 hour trip with lots of moving boxes. When she finally showed us the car it was not as big, and it was a lower car. we couldn’t do anything to fix this as we had already waited 90 minutes, recognized that this place was extremely unorganized and chaotic (overheard another patron complain that his car didn’t even have wipers on it??) and had to get on the road as quickly as possible. This ‘upgrade’ was in fact a downgrade in my opinion (I didn’t know what an Infiniti was, and really do not like driving cars which is why I opted for the Jeep) and it was very annoying to have to pay the additional fee for the ‘upgrade’ considering THEY are the ones who lost their own keys to the vehicle I requested! Shouldn’t have been charged for this. Avoid this location if possible.Reviewed 2022 Apr 04

I tried to rent a mini van for my family at the Hertz at the Dane County airport in Madison Wisconsin. The first van I got had a heater that did not work (in Wisconsin, during winter) the windshield washer fluid was frozen and the outside windows were dirty, making it hard to see. I took the Dodge Caravan back and was given a Pacifica. I got my kids car seats anchored and went to get myself buckled in and the drivers seatbelt did not work. There was a panel near it that had been taken off and never fixed. I had to take the car seats out of that van, back into the airport to talk with the agent. He told me that they pay a company to maintain their cars and check them for safety. I question if the company is doing their job. I could hear the agent talk to his manager about what was going on, and while the agent wanted to help get me an upgrade the manager wanted to send me away in the car with the malfunctioning seatbelt. I did talk to the manager, he was short, and did not apologize for any of it. They never offered to check the next car to see if it worked properly, or drive it to me so I would not have to carry two car seats. Overall it took me 2 hours to get a working car, and I hauled 2 large car seats multiple blocks. I have rented with other car rental companies at the airport and they normally go out of their way to make things right, and apologize when it’s not. It was a huge waste of time and effort. Go with a different company.Reviewed 2022 Feb 13

The personnel working the front desk during pickup and drop off were very friendly and helpful. However, the Yukon I rented was not as clean inside as I had expected. The passenger side mirror was not functioning and when I informed the receptionist at drop off it didn't seem to concern him. The remote auto start also did not work resulting in my going outside in below zero temperatures to start the vehicle. I also would have expected a walk around of the vehicle before and after with a brief on the operating functions of the vehicle, but neither occurred. This did make me nervous on drop off and potentially accruing charges for any damage that was already there but not documented. I did receive my receipt and this did not happen, but it was a nervous period. Overall, I would use Hertz again, but there are improvements that could make things better.Reviewed 2022 Feb 07

The passenger door on my cargo van wouldn't lock; this was an especially big problem because all my valuables were in the van. I asked for a small partial refund because of this and they offered me a ~$35 credit voucher, which didn't show much concern. I extended the rental and the price I was quoted online didn't match what I ended up paying. I didn't have documentation so there wasn't much I could do about it. After I returned the car, I guess it didn't show up in their system for a while, because I got strongly worded messages and letters telling me I would be prosecuted for stealing their van if I didn't return it. Was also very hard to get someone on the phone. On the other hand, I returned it a little bit after the agreed time and they were relaxed about that and didn't charge me as far as I can tell. The gas fill up fee is crazy but I think everyone does that.Reviewed 2022 Jan 29

Hassel to get to, but that's all rentals at share. Once there, the pick-up/return could not have been more convenient or smooth. FAST!Reviewed 2021 Nov 02
