Pros: We rented a cargo van, so the space was nice and the seats were super comfortable.
Cons: Where to start? Van pickup-Van was dirty, there was writing on the driver's side window, and it only had 1/4 tank of gas. Total trip was 24 hours, van overheated 5 hours into trip. Coolant reservoir was empty so had to replace with 8 personal water bottles until we could get antifreeze. Called Hertz-could only get automated responses saying that it was upwards of 75 minutes to connect with an agent. Started texting and was told to drop off at nearest location, however, would not provide us with nearest location. Got antifreeze and refilled the reservoir which was empty again. Limped to destination for the night. Still not able to contact anyone from Hertz. Next morning, check the antifreeze and looked like it was holding. Drove 30 minutes, stopped to get gas and noticed fluids were leaking from the van. Again, called Hertz and nothing. Looked up the nearest Hertz, drove there only to find they were closed on Sundays. Find another Hertz, drove there only to find that location was closed permanently. Went into Budget (which was nearby to were Hertz was supposed to be) to see if we could rent something but they didn't provide one way rentals-at least we were able to talk with a real person. Budget told us to talk with Avis, which was located in the airport where Hertz was supposed to be. Walked into Avis and talked with Avis and Enterprise, who were both sold out. Told them our story about not being able to get in contact with anyone from Hertz-"no wonder they are going out of business". Avis & Enterprise, told us to take it to get fixed and gave us the name and address of repair shop. Took it to repair shop which fortunately was open on Sunday morning. Repair shop fixed a hose pipe that had come undone, and four hours later we were on our way. Had Hertz done an initial check of the van-they may have noticed something was amiss but my guess is their incompetence was the problem. Still no call or text to make sure we were alright, But it doesn't end there-time to take the van back. Our contract showed the address to drop off the van, and when we get there-there is not a Hertz in sight. Luckily, a security guard was able to point us in the right direction. We dropped off the car and were told to leave the keys in the car but never asked about our experience. Bottom line: we will never, ever, ever rent from Hertz again. It was the worst rental experience we have ever had. As Avis, Enterprise, Budget, and the repair guy said-"no wonder they are going out of business". They left us stranded and if it weren't for the fact my husband knows a little about cars, we could have been in real trouble. Thanks for nothing Hertz-no wonder you are going out of biusiness!
Pros: Staff arriving was horrible. Staff for drop off were friendly and efficient
Pros: Yes; Yes.
Pros: The staff was helpful but hurried. The car was really inexpensive, which was why I went with Hertz for the first time.
Cons: The car was somewhat vacuumed on the inside, quite dirty on the outside, with leaves sticking out from under the hood. It was Christmas Eve and they wanted to close early, so they rushed the car up and didn't check it over for scratches or properly record the gas tank level. It was full, but the paperwork said 2/8. Even though it was the end of December, the windshield washer fluid was the summer kind, so it made a useless blue slushy on my windshield. It was almost due for an oil change when I started out. The last day, the cruise control died, the check engine light came on, and it started shaking all over. It was a new Malibu, so I don't know what was with that. Other than that, the car ran well.
Pros: Brittany at pickup location was great.
Cons: Poor service once car had mechanical issues. Horrible service at tool free number. And I was overcharged!
Pros: Car was clean & comfortable
Cons: I accidentally booked the wrong pickup/drop off location due to a death in the family. I asked Hertz to change the booking once I arrived. They said because I prepaid that I didn’t have that option. I told them I would be willing to pay the change fee but again told I didn’t have that option. I had to take an Uber to the correct location. I called the corporate office with no help! I was VERY disappointed in Hertz! Luckily on the return trip they did have someone to take me to the airport but I was told that might not be available either.
Pros: Staff was very friendly and explained options.
Cons: Cigarette ashes all in the vehicle and smelled like cigarette smoke. Hertz in STL is a terrible place to get a rental. Added on costs I wasn’t aware. Customer service was terrible and I couldn’t get a hold of anyone when trying to call about the ashes. This company said it was supposed to be clean per covid standards and that was a lie.
Pros: staff was very friendly and helpful--definitely following CDC guidelines regarding covid 19
Cons: only if car dropping me off and picking me up could have gone onto the property--nothing that the staff works at this location could do to change this.
Pros: The vehicle was amazing on gas and to fit 7 people.
Cons: Pick up and drop off was awful i couldn't leave my car there nor did they check me out at drop off and no space for bags in the trunk of the suv.
Pros: No pickup or dropoff requested.
Cons: All was good.
