Car did not come with snow tires, only car that had snow tires was extra. Car windshield was damaged during travel from rocks on high being flung up and am being charged roughly $830 for the repair for small cracks.Reviewed 2025 Jan 03

I rented a minivan. I called the agency to check the car insurance prices that I didn't hire on the application and they told me that the agency didn't have a minivan and couldn't have one. So if I hadn't called for some other reason, I would have arrived and they would have made a mess of all my travel plans. Bad service from Hertz for offering it and from Kayak and QEEQ for trusting what Hertz offers. I cancelled the rental and had to pay more at another agency. All bad!Reviewed 2024 Aug 08

Awful. The online rental loaned me a car and then I was called to be advised there were no cars available and a one-way rental to Prince George would not be happening.Reviewed 2024 Aug 07

bad, booked 48hrs in advance pickup at 790 southwest marine dr. was set for noon on saturday, ...they were closed and close at noon on saturday..?? called at 11:45 AM on my way there and no one answered so called customer service when I arrived at the closed location, was told that they had no more cars available there anyway...?? was told that i should go to the airport and and book again for 50$ more..?? LOL was told that's the way it works nothing can be done for me even though they obviously messed up... needed a car so went to the other location and there they are refusing payment and can't process my card for whatever reason... don't ever use this service or it's products, just go to TURO it seems as to not deal with any of that BS. The car rental did not work out. I would not recommend. We arrived about 40 min after pickup time and they said they no longer had a car for us. They offered us an electric vehicle or to pay more for a truck. We took the electric vehicle and the minute we got I. The car and turned in the AC the whole car smelled like cigarette smoke. We had to cancel the car because it was not drivable. And had to go rent a car elsewhere. Terrible experience. And they wasted 2 hours of our day.Reviewed 2024 May 14

Wetting a car down does. Ot mean it is clean. When it dried it was obviously dirty. I didn't rent it to impress anyone, it just seemed like a deceptive practice.Reviewed 2024 Mar 21

Firstly, when I arrived at the pick up location, the associate did not great me. Granted, he was on the computer tending to a customer that was in the waiting area, but he could've looked up to acknowledge I was there and would be with me when this current transaction was done. Second, admittedly, I wasn't paying attention when I made the rental and clicked suppliers choice. This associate gleefully told me he would be giving me a minivan unless I chose to pay an additional $10 per day for a smaller car. He also gleefully added that when he was at the airport, he would give travellers pick up trucks on purpose, as his way of punishing people for picking "suppliers choice". I opted for the $10 additional fee because I didn't want to deal with a minivan, but when I got to the garage, there was no cars in the garage except for a Hyundai Elantra and a Tesla. My suspicion is there was no minivan in the first place and I would like this fee reimbursed. Moreover, seeing that there were smaller vehicles, that means it was his discretion to give me a smaller car even if I did accidentally choose suppliers choice, but he smugly chose not to. Finally, when I drove the car the following day to Seattle, there was alert that my tire pressure was low. Turns out, not all gas stations have pumps and it took me 30 minutes to get to one. While the car indicated that the left rear tire was extremely low, turns out, all 4 tires needed to be pumped. The cost was $3.50 and I would like to be reimbursed for that cost. I would also appreciate additional reimbursement for the inconvenience, but I will let you decide what you think is appropriate. I can provide photographs of the tire pressure if necessary.Reviewed 2024 Mar 13

Top tips for renting a car from Hertz in Vancouver

  • Vancouver is well known for its mild climate, friendly people, and scenic views, and is well worth a visit. You can book Hertz car hire in Vancouver and travel at your own pace to destinations like Stanley Park, Granville Island and Capilano Suspension Bridge Park. Vancouver car hire is more reliable and comfortable compared to public transit options, which have frequent stops and end their journey at designated points. Hertz car hire is also an excellent option, especially when travelling on a budget, as they offer coupon codes for long-planned vacations.
  • Any person with a driver's licence who is at least 25 years old can drive a Hertz car hire in Vancouver. However, drivers between 21-24 years are also in a position to move around but must pay young driver's fees at the Hertz car hire counters. The same policy applies if you wish to bring along an additional driver.
  • You must adhere to the Hertz return policies according to the agreement, including filling up your car hire at the agreed-upon levels. Once you get to the return location, park your car at the indicated return area and head to the offices, where you will hand the keys to one of the Hertz car hire staff. Ensure you lock the doors and place the keys at the dropbox if returning the car during off hours.
  • Vancouver has one toll on Port Mann Bridge; hence you should consider the pre-paid toll during pick-up if you think you might use the road. The Hertz toll pass covers the toll charges allowing unlimited usage of the toll roads throughout your rental period. Note that the pre-paid tolls are optional; hence you are responsible for any costs you may incur if you do not opt for the pre-paid option.
  • Economy rental cars from Hertz in Vancouver are around 42% cheaper than other car types, on average.
