Everything was very smooth. We had a problem with a tire about 30 to 45 minutes after we left the facility and brought the car back. They very quickly got us a replacement with no questions asked.

The pickup never happened as when I arrived I was informed for the first time that I could only use a credit card. The employee was aggressive and standoff-ish. I would suggest putting a warning of what type of payment was acceptable at certain locations as a pop up or red lettering before completing the booking. I was using my cellphone to book so maybe double check that as I never got any indication for this. Luckily I was able to have my friend pick me up but the whole experience was upsetting.

Pick up and drop off were simple, quick and easy. It snowed while having the rental, which clearly didn’t have winter tires so I was sliding all over the road. Be careful when driving if your rental does not have the correct tires!

The rear passenger tire had a slow leak and we were continually stopping for air-called Avis Customer Service and we got an exchange with upgrade with no problem at all!!! It was simple and we lost no time on our journey!

We did not get the model/type of car booked. It was a downgrade... Not impressed, no discount given. But was offered a bigger car for an additional $20 a day. Will book elsewhere in the future!

Staff was really friendly. Car handled well in winter weather. Easy pick up and drop off.

Cons:

My rental felt overpriced — $175 for 26 hours and only used $5 worth of gas. Staff didn’t explain cost or meaning of other add ons, felt a little pushy. But I also recognize that that is their job!

Pros:

Dropping the car off the person checking the car in was very polite.

Cons:

When checking the car out the guy at the desk was extremely rude. He also said that the insurance you purchase through Kayak does not cover the car. I had to call and add insurance through my personal company before I could leave. I would also recommend putting winter tires on the vehicle when it’s being rented in Alaska during the winter.

Check in staff/agent was not able to locate my rental reservation with my given name, then when asked why he could not find my reservation, stated it was a “common glitch” , then when I asked about the $500 deductible the agent (male) stated that if I did not like the $500 deductible that I could go to another car rental.

Rental agent - young male Asian with ear ring needs to be taught better courtesy

Cost was too high. I didn't get the car I wanted because of the reservation mix-up on Kayak. My card was charged over $800.00 for an estimated cost of just over $400.00.

The person helping me was lovely and the process quick and easy. I love the ease of renting in Anchorage.

Cons:

The prices are so high. I’m not sure Anchorage is different than any other cities in that regard but the cost of rental cars is ridiculous.

We had a problem with our vehicle and were told to come in and quickly swap it out with an identical vehicle that they were holding for us. The replacement vehicle wasn’t available when we arrived and the staff were unaware of the situation. The exchange was not quick as had been claimed. We were satisfied until this moment.

Staff was understanding and helpful. We had some issues with the car in the first 4 days and came by ANC with it on 9/10. None serious enough to exchange the car, but we did receive a fair adjustment on our final invoice...
