I always feel rushed, confused by offerings, and ultimately like I overspent. My friends use Turo but I prefer the security and comfort of a rental. But the way things are going I may give it a try next time.

Drop off was easy.

Cons:

The little economy car I received was uncomfortable. But the biggest complaint I have is that it was booked at the wrong location. I asked for airport pickup. They did find me a car, but charged me almost double. Very unhappy.

Would be nice if Enterprise shifted some vehicles from larger airports (TPA) to smaller ones (PIE) to account for increased traffic, especially considering it was spring break. I had to take an Uber between from PIE to TPA to get a car. Cars were sold out at PIE for 5-6 weeks before spring break, so Enterprise had plenty of time to address the logistical imbalance. This applies to all rental agencies, not just Enterprise/Alamo/National. Jeep Compass is a terrible vehicle overall. Our rental was a Limited so it had bells and whistles, but it's like putting glipstick on a pig; vehicle was unrefined, very loud road noise, weak engine, very little cargo space, seemed more like a subcompact than a compact SUV. Almost no useable storage space aside from small center console (a tiny pocket below console would hold key fob but not large enough for a cell phone), since most space was taken up by comically oversized bezels around LCD screen and controls. Volume and tuning knobs are too far from both the LCD screen and the driver, should be smaller and closer to screen. Terrible gas mileage for a modern compact SUV, especially considering the Compass is equipped with 'auto engine off' to conserve gas at stop lights. Small fuel tank for a vehicle with such poor mileage, which also means more stops to refuel than should be necessary. 'Advanced' features were crude and poorly implemented. Lane keep assist pinballed between left and right lane lines instead of keeping vehicle centered. Auto cruise control would apply brakes hard then accelerate hard to compensate. Android Auto support was buggy and would sometimes not work. Did like auto windshield wipers, and liked that one fog light would turn on to provide extra lighting when turning a corner.

The expedition was the right size. Easy to drive.

Cons:

The vehicle was not ready at agreed upon time. Had to wait almost an hour for workers to finish cleaning it. Still was not as clean as I thought it should be. Sand from beach still in it. Outside did not look freshly washed. Floor mat was missing.

I thought our rental deal was too good to be true. We booked through Kayak, But we were pleasantly surprised with the Tampa airport location. The staff were friendly and didn’t push any extras on us. The rental car was clean (Nissian Versa) the staff friendly & courteous. I would 100 % recommend them if you need a rental car in the Tampa area. Just a side note. I also look the car over before taking it off the lot, I also video the entire car inside and out for damage. And take pictures, it does take a few extra minutes but gives me piece of mind.

I didn't appreciate the "nickle and diming"; the final price was almost 3 times what was advertised with all the added fees and taxes etc. They should be far more transparent with the final cost to the customer. Staff are upselling to the benefit of the business and not necessarily that of the customer. I was offered a transponder but after closer inspection it would have been cheaper for me to pay for the tolls. This was very disappointing; I recommend better training and customer sensitivity workshops.

The pickup experience was horrendous, took almost 2.5 hours. The initial check-in line was extremely long. Once check-in was completed and instructed to go to lower floor to pickup car, you had to find an employee to put your name on a waitlist. The system was chaotic and unorganized. The entire process took 2.5 hours, I was late to meet friends for lunch and delayed my entire schedule. I was only in town for a night and required me to make alternate arrangements. Lastly, I was billed incorrectly and charged for refueling, even though I returned it at the same level I took the car.

My experience with the TAMPA AIRPORT DOLLAR RENTAL HAS BEEN UTTERLY DISGUSTING. They put me and my mother in a 2018 Nissan Rogue when here we are a few weeks shy of 2024. When you turned the wheel it made a horrible sound, the charging ports didn't work, the trunk didn't open and when you were at a stop light or idling it would shake and sputter. So I decided to drive 45 minutes back to the airport to get something better. Upon doing so they seemed to be annoyed with me. So after feeling that way I didn't want to complain when the car they exchanged with REEKED LIKE CIGARETTES. Me and my mother decided to just go buy some air fresheners and deal with it. We never mentioned the smell and now I 100% regret it. A few days after returning from Vacation I check my credit card and notice they charged me $400 dollars. I call customer service and am told I was charged that for a "cleaning fee for smoking in the vehicle" so I am now in the process of trying to dispute this charge. I have asked several times to see the notes from the previous person that rented the car to see if it was noted about it smelling like smoke and was told they aren't allowed to give me that information. DISGUSTING SCAMMING COMPANY.

Had the choice of picking which vehicle I would like to drive. The Nissan Rogue that I was given had 54,000 plus miles and shook when driven above 60 miles per hour. It had a number of door dings which concerned me before I drove off the lot. The attendant was helpful in reassuring me that none of the blemishes identified would register as damage that I caused when returned.

Electronic checkin allowed us to avoid the desk with the long line and get to our selected car directly from baggage claim. Team members walked the car with us taking photos before we left then emailed them to us. It kept everything very transparent.

Horrible. The car broke down, and they don't offer delivery for replacement vehicles, so I had to get a ride all the way back to the airport to get a replacement vehicle, and they didn't even offer a refund/discount of any kind... Absolutely horrible customer service

Advance check in was easy. I rented via car rentals.com. That was a pain since you can't contact hertz directly if you have an issue with a late plane or canceled flight to tell them you aren't coming. Did save a bunch of money with prepay.

I would rent from Fox again but I’d be way more likely to rent from Fox if there was a way to use their car for toll roads on only the days when you’re planning to use it on those roads instead of paying for toll usage for the entire duration of the trip. Having to pay for the entire duration even though I only wanted to use tolls for one day meant that the cost was much higher and the value not really that great.

One of the biggest issues was caused by Kayak. Kayaks website did not mention the fact that a credit card was required when renting a car from budget. Needless to say I was unable to rent the vehicle.

I liked how easy it was to pick up my vehicle and drop it off, including my ability to extend my rental period. However, the vehicle came with tinted windows that were darker than legally allowed in the state of Florida, and so I was operating a vehicle that I could have been ticketed for driving. Also, the vehicle was not fully cleaned inside, and I was able to determine that this vehicle had been in an accident previously, because the hood did not properly line up with the fenders, and I could tell the hood and front end had been repainted.

An issue with the rental seal around windshield showed up when I drove the vehicle above 50 mph. The seal would come loose. I reported the issue upon drop off and am now being charged the fee to fix a maintenance issue for a dry rot seal.

Only 1 rep working so the wait was a bit long. Rep was friendly. I rented a Tesla and had a regular charger at the rental house but had to purchase an adapter to charge the Tesla. They should be included. Otherwise all was well.

I tried 4 different cars because each car had an issue. Two cars reeked of smoke, one had a smashed in back fender, and the last had sand and trash all over the floor board including 11 used water and soda bottles strewn around the interior of the car. The Avis agents were accommodating in switching cars but it was a terrible experience having to walk back and forth to the counter and car each time. It took over an hour to finally get into a car. They also didn’t escalate to a manager until I asked for one when we pulled the car up to show them all of the trash. The manager was very friendly and helpful. He apologized for the trouble. The return was challenging as well. The signage was poorly done. I parked in one of the designated return spots and followed signs up 8 flights of stairs to the rooftop to find that I had been misdirected. I walked back downstairs and ultimately found the return desk on the ground floor. The agent asked me where I parked and told me I had to move the car the rooftop. I told her the signs directed me to park in the designated spots side the garage which were clearly marked as Avis return spots but she insisted I move and that the car was now late. She said the signs were wrong and need to be removed. When I expressed displeasure with the poor signage and waste of time the agent told me I could call customer service. I had to go back upstairs and drive the car all the way to the top of the garage. The process was inefficient and frustrating.

The price was attractive, until they nickel and dime you for everything including wanting to sell you glass insurance by saying you are responsible for chips in the glass and they list an unrealistic price chart you will be charged for a chip. Car was a mess, full of sand on the floors and seats. Office wasn’t clean at all and they do not have enough staff. Expect to wait 1.5 hours for a car.

I couldn’t make it over to the terminal fast enough to catch last shuttle to get over to rental center. So couldn’t pick up my car. Then couldn’t get anyone on the phone to talk to about canceling or anything. So I had to pay for a rental I never got.

If you rent from this company have your insurance info with you and I mean the page that shows you have collision coverage because your insurance card is not going to work for them when they try to sell you there insurance. Be prepared to wait. One guy had to cancel his rental car and get an Uber it was that bad the day I rented from them. The gentleman that assisted me at the counter was very nice but can't say the same for all.

I felt completely tricked and could not fight what they charged, with finding out everything when picking up car and so too late to cancel without penalty or I would have as it was that bad. Pick up was awful. They nickel and dime you on everything. Mileage was unlimited change to 150 miles per day. We couldn’t use our own SunPass tolls device either use theirs or pay $25 fee per toll + toll fee. The deposit was more than the entire rental period. The car was filthy and stunk. Return was quick and easy. We would pay a bit more and have comfort, convenience, and a decent clean car.

I would have liked more accurate price quoting. Price was listed as $240 for a "special class car." I was offered the lowest level compact they had. On top of that, I was informed the actual price for rental would be THREE TIMES as much as I had already paid. When I inquire about canceling my reservation, the clerk said that would be okay, but they would not refund the $240 I had already paid. Poor customer service, feeling scammed by hidden fees and forced into paying them to avoid losing my money. Will never rent here again, would not recommend this company to anyone.

Horrible - do not book with NextCar. They denied my car insurance because I was not the primary policyholder. I have full coverage insurance, so there was no logistical reason to deny it. The supplemental insurance cost as much as the rental itself. I was never told at the time of booking that I would be forced to use their insurance if I wasn’t the primary policyholder. I was only told so 24 hours out from my booking. I’m actively trying to get a refund for this.

Flight was late. They cxld my non refundable car. They countered with car over twice what I had originally scheduled. I will be giving reviews on every platform I can. I also will be sending letter to the Florida AG. My wife is a flight attendant and we travel quite a bit. We have used kayak numerous times in the past but we are extremely disappointed that kayak is associated with a company like Mex!

When I went to pickup my car, I had to wait ~1 hour to speak with someone at the desk. The agent I spoke to at the desk lied to me and said that I cannot use my personal auto insurance and had to use their plan. I call their corporate number later and the confirmed that agent was incorrect and refunded my money spent on the insurance. The car they had reserved for me was stuck behind several cars on the lot and inaccessible. Because of this they tried to give me another vehicle in the same class. The replacement they picked had visible damage/dent to the multiple panels, doors, and bumper. I started documenting all the damage in detail and taking pictures, the agent started getting visibly annoyed. He ended up providing me with a different car in the end. When I came time to drop off the vehicle, the lot nearly full and there was a line extending into the street just to enter the lot. I'm still waiting to deposit to be returned and I anticipating that I will need to call their corporate office again. This was an extremely poor experience through and through. I will never rent from Mexrentacar ever again, and I will never recommend their services to anyone.

The car was fine. There was a requirement to have proof of insurance. Not just the declaration page as stated on the walls in the office but the whole policy. This was not clear in the initial rental agreement. Also there were many unclear additional fees.

The vehicle was perfectly fine. Everything other than that and the shuttle driver was terrible. Not able to reach the property. Number listed is in Miami. $2500 deposit hold for 3 weeks despite full coverage insurance is unheard of. Facility is inadequate, seats are in disrepair. Agent is unfriendly. I would highly recommend dropping this company from your vendor list. While my experience panned out, two of the three other groups in their office woth us that morning, were not able to rent for whatever reason. Both were very upset.

Once we actually got to a staff member (after waiting in line for over an hour because the Payless, Avis, and Budget counters were all combined), he was very polite and helpful. The car was new and it was very nice. Drop off was an ease.

Cons:

A warning at least would have been nice about the lack of staffing or the possible extended wait times. The fact that I set a pick up time and expected to go to the counter to get my car, but waited in line for over an hour instead was frustrating to say the least. I have appreciated an offered substantial upgrade or refund for the inconvenience.

Do not use this company. I have used kayak and priceline often with no issues. After a slightly delayed flight, waiting for the Routes shuttle and waiting in a slow line at Routes I was denied my reserved car because they hold it for ONE hour. That was not in my paperwork anywhere. Other people were angry in line (which is why the line took so long) because they require to see your insurance declaration page, which no one had. There were people trying to call their insurance agents. The people ahead of me walked away without a car. One man was asked to leave because he was angry that he was not aware of the insurance requirement. I was denied a car, had to take the shuttle back to the airport where my daughter and her baby were waiting for me to pick them up in the rental car. VERY poor experience.

Shuttle from Airport was clean, updated, and driver was courteous Phone number was answered at least ,50 percent of time by agent at the local office Downsides... There was an Extra airport surcharge that was NOT disclosed on the initial pricing for rental. I received email from company, said deposit for car was 250 with major CC, 500 with debit card, and as much as 2000 with FL residence. When requested insurance, stated policy, which was NOT disclosed in email, was that to use own Auto policy, deposit increased to 2000 for rental. Advertised vehicle was Toyota Corolla or similar... Recueved Mitsubishi hatchback... Was minimalist vehicle. On day of dropoff, front desk staff was ALSO shuttle driver, so under staffing for service also an issue.

If you do not arrive within 1-2 hours of your reservation time, they give your car away and don't have backups for you! EVERYONE in that arrived on my shuttle were in the same boat; they didn't have any of our vehicles; they were simply telling everyone that their reservation is cancelled, we'll receive our money back (eventually), and we just need to go elsewhere to find a car last minute, at night. IT WAS A DISASTER! Thank God one of the guys working there took pity on my group since I had my 80 year old parents with me, and managed to find another vehicle for us. It was smaller than what we rented, but at least it was a vehicle. I'm thankful to the employee who bent over backwards to find us a vehicle, but York's policy of re-renting everyone's cars if they are not there within 1-2 hours is CRAZY! Everyone else got screwed. It was an awful experience. Oh, it it took HOURS for all of that to get settled. 0/5 stars.

After waiting in line for over an hour to pick up my rental from York, I was told by the counter staff that I would my personal (full coverage) auto insurance was still not enough coverage to rent a vehicle. It was proposed that I would either need to contact my insurance company to pay an additional ~$150 to tack on a rental car for the month OR pay York a $500 non-refundable security deposit, I should have listened to the line of other disgruntled customers in front of me, I ended up leaving with no rental, having to take a $40 Uber to my destination, and be carless for the week I was in town, I will NEVER use York again.

Absolutely terrible company. If I could give it zero stars, I would. I have asked for a refund and had to go with a different rental upon landing in Florida. They tried to take a $3000 deposit even though we already had external insurance. They advertise that they're in the airport which they are not, and they didn't even offer a shuttle - they told us to Uber. Upon looking at reviews, many people said that they kept and wouldn't return the deposits claiming unreal damages. They also tried to do additional toll charges and other random shady things, that they communicated through text. Also, when they asked for the $3000 deposit, and we tried to escalate it since it was completely unheard of, they didn't say anything and changed the contract back to $500 without telling us (to delete the evidence). Terrible, terrible, terrible company. Pay more and go with a reputable service.

Airport shuttle from airport: Good communication, minimal wait. They called my insurance company to make sure I was covered. I already knew I was, so that was a time waster. Our car 4dr Mercedes was clean however, it was dented in 3-4 places and had a broken headlight cover. Interior smelled like smoke. The car worked and did its job getting around. Passenger window would stick or not work going up it had to be rolled up from the driver side. When I got the car, I told them when I return I will be here around 6:30pm. We can get a shuttle back to the airport correct? I was told yes. Upon returning the car at 6:30pm we were told they were closed (closed but people were still there) and they wouldn’t drive us to the airport. He said his coworker explained they were closed at 6pm and don’t do shuttles after 6pm. Kayak and the rental company promises airport shuttles. We were not given instructions on how to drop the car off if there had been no one there. We were also told our 6:30pm arrival wouldn’t be a problem for a shuttle. The employee took us to the airport in his personal car which was spotless and kind of him. This has soured my experience with both Kayak and the AZ rental company

When I arrived at Tampa Airport, I called multiple times and got a rerouted to different numbers. One number I called about 10 times with no answer. None of the people I did speak with could tell me when a shuttle would arrive to transport my family and I to the rental company. After an hour I gave up and got a rental from another company. I spoke with 2 other people in line for another company who claimed the same thing happened. 0/10 would not recommend.

Firstly, the staff was polite and professional; nice guys. They were on time in shuttling us to and from the airport (since they were off airport location but only minutes away so not inconvenient at all). Both the shuttle and car rental were clean. The registration process was easy and efficient. I would totally use them again HOWEVER, I don’t recall their website stating that the price I paid was just to reserve the car. When we got there they asked for our insurance and if it didn’t state we had 300k on Property Damage Liability (which I never heard a company having this requirement) we had to purchase theirs, no way around that. Although I had purchased extra rental coverage through a third party site which was pointless because this car rental company didn’t accept. So the car that was originally 30$ for the day ended up being almost 110$ after adding the sun pass and additional insurance. We were on a schedule to get our trip moving along smoothly so I just bit the bullet and used their services but this felt like a bait and switch tactic which is why I have a bad review. Too bad because I liked everything else about it. It would’ve just been easier, convenient and cheaper had I just used a well known rental company right inside the airport.
