Lost luggage as the crew insisted we check it despite a 45 min short lay over that with a delay would NOT be enough time to load bags!!! On a four hour flight crew came by with drinks one time despite a smooth flight so no stay in seat restrictions. All around American Airlines has poorly trained staff with some exceptions the crew seem ready to be doing g anything other than customer service!!!
Missed our connection due to delayed. Ended up with a replacement flight with connections getting us in really late and annoying..
I liked the way the staff solved my lodging and transportation problem, since my original flight was cancelled. There should be some way to get or request upgrades to business class, since I am a large person and I was located in the middle of two large people, so the space was limited

Cons: "Very upset with baggage handling and charges for baggage on an international flight. I bought an economy fair but was not well informed about fact that charges for baggage would be made. I ended up paying more in fees for baggage and seats than if I had purchased a "regular" coach fare or had flown on another airline. Will do this next time. Also, both my pieces of luggage were damaged and not properly latched following opening by security."

Cons: "The first plane was broken and the pilot kept coming to brief the passwngers that it was broken but it may be fixed and so on, it would have been better if he had just let the counter clerk say the plane is delayed due to maintenance. As a customer, i dont need all the rambling explanation every ten minutes about the issue. I was told that we could board another flight leaving in 30 minutes, so i went to that gate, crew was not there and we boarded the plane. We had to de- board and wait for the crew. After the crew showed up, the rest of the flight was pretty standard."

Pros: "We were notified of the pending delay in our flight from Athens to Philly very promptly on the morning of the 10th. We immediately called and spoke to a British Airways agent and also a supervisor who was understanding and kind enough to accommodate us by reserving seats on a later connecting flight with American Airlines from Philly to Phoenix. We did not receive a confirming email and ended up calling back. We were then told that Vouchers will be waiting for us at the Philadelphia airport with our names."
Cons: "When we checked in at Athens airport there was no information available for our connecting flight in Philadelphia. The AA counter was chaotic, the agents were rude and had changed our seats to 2 separate areas. When we arrived in Philadelphia there were no vouchers waiting for us. The only thing that the agent could find were seat assignments . We stood in line over an hour waiting for her to figure out what had happened and almost missed our connecting flight . Even though my daughter was in a wheelchair with a brace on her leg and in pain, the agent at the counter was not very empathetic at all. The agent also kept saying that this was not correct somebody made a mistake to tell us we were booked and that person will get in trouble. Eventually she spoke with the supervisor and gave us 2 boarding passes."

Cons: "That my flight was delayed four hours or more and then cancelled so I had to be transferred to a totally different flight in the early hours of the morning and that my luggage was delayed and travelled on a different flight to mine. The entire experience was very discouraging."

Pros: "Again, it seemed to me there was more legroom in first class than on similar Delta flights - meaning it was more comfortable. Also, there was a delay of a couple of hours leaving Dallas due to a problem with the plane's radio, and the American employees handled it very well, keeping the passengers informed and smoothly transferring everyone to a substitute plane."
