We were lucky to receive an unexpected upgrade when the car we had reserved was being checked out by another agent at the same time. The hybrid sedan we received instead was perfect for our traveling since we were driving many miles between destinations each day. The staff was very friendly and helpful, and it was a part of our very enjoyable stay in the Albany/Hudson Valley area.Reviewed 2026 Aug 10

The agent at my drop off was rude. He told me to park the car in the garage and bring him the key. He did not inspect the car with me or ask how my rental was or help. I gave him the key and he said he’d email the receipt. I got no paperwork. He should not be working with people- rude, uninvolved with his job and not a good representative for Avis.Reviewed 2026 Jun 13

Extremely disappointed with my experience. I attempted to reserve a rental vehicle and was told that a credit card was required. I had a valid debit card with sufficient funds available, but Avis refused to accept it for the reservation. What made the situation even more frustrating was that no alternative solution was offered. I understand companies have policies, but customer service should be able to provide options or accommodations, especially when a customer is ready and willing to rent a vehicle. Instead, I was simply turned away without any effort to help me complete the reservation. This experience was inconvenient, frustrating, and a complete waste of time. If you don’t have a credit card on hand, be aware that you may not be able to rent a vehicle, and don’t expect much assistance in finding a solution.Reviewed 2026 Jun 09

We had to change our pick up time due to delays. We tried calling the Albany location MANY times but no one answered. Then we called Avis directly and they said there were no cars available if we changed our time, even though we had booked a vehicle. We ended up with no car and had to find alternate transportation.
