They didn't have a car although I made a reservation. And I rent a Cheverlet Bolt which can be charged up to 58%. It won't be charged more than that. I had a difficult time to travel long distance.Reviewed 2023 Jul 23

We inadvertently booked the downtown Albany location but intended to book at the Albany airport. This may not have been completely clear during the options available during booking. We understand and agreed upon the non changeable and non refundable booking policy but based on our senior status with some confusion it would have been nice if Hertz KAYAK to provide us some wiggle room to change the pickup and / or return location even if it meant a slight increase in fees.Reviewed 2023 Jun 27

They claim cancellation can be done within 24 hours. They don’t add the caveat that “they’re closed” when you call to cancel. There was no way to cancel on line. Beware. It’s a $50 cancel cost.Reviewed 2022 Aug 07

When I went online to rent my car, I started on the Albany Intl airport (ALB) site, I picked my deal and thought I all was set. When I arrived at the ALB counter I was asked for my name. When the attendant couldn't find my rental, she asked for my confirmation number. Then I was told my car was rented from the Hertz office on Central Avenue (CA), approximately 5 miles away. I then asked if there was a shuttle over to CA, and when she said "No", I asked how I was supposed to get there, she shrugged her shoulders, and said, "I don't know, how about a cab". I luckily was able to get an Uber ride to CA. When there, I asked if I could drop it off at ALB and was told I would be charged $59 for some kind of relocation fee. First of all, there should be some kind of warning when you're sent to an alternate site for your car. Secondly, I think its BS that the car can't be dropped at another (same company) office. I was happy with the original deal but when you tack on another $40 for round trip Uber or $59 for relocation fee, it's ridiculous. I won't be using Hertz or Kayak in the future.Reviewed 2022 Jul 12

pick-up and drop-off were a breeze. My only complaint is the passenger side headrest had a bunch of long gray and white hairs sticking out of it. I'm sure belonging to the people who rented the car before I did. Fortunately, I didn't have any passengers with me, so it was only an eyesore.Reviewed 2022 Jun 13

I arrived at closing time and the employees weren't able to give me a car. I understand they wouldn't give me a car because they were closed, but my frustration is that they looked up my order and told me that I wasn't billed for anything. We arrived to pick up our vehicle after the office closed at 5:00 Our plane landed at 5:30. We called the 800# (no one was at the actual location when we went by) and customer service told us, no problem, your car is prepaid - they will hold it for 24 hours. We stayed overnight locally, and we arrived at the location right at 8:00 when the office opened and they had already rented our car to someone else and we were told they had no more cars available. The office told us they only had an obligation to hold the car for 2 hours. Called customer service back and was told the 24 hour hold on a pre-paid car was just a courtesy and that the location was allowed to rent it to another customer if it wasn't picked up within two hours of the pick up time. That information would have been helpful the night before. Just a really unfortunate set of circumstances. When we tried to rent from another rental company, the rates were off the charts - $1,600 for 4 days for the last couple of vehicles left in the area. No one had cars. So this office rented to the next person for probably much more than we paid since availability was low and we had made our pre-paid reservation weeks before. We were told that we should have called the location, we did, but no one was there, so we called the 800#. Just a terrible reservation and communication system.Reviewed 2021 Oct 12
