I reserved an economy car.. I arrived at 8am to pick up the car. They had no cars. They said they might not have a car that day. I was later offered a 12 passenger van that had been to the beach and had not been cleaned. It was full of sand and trash. It was only me driving a dirty 12 passenger van from Lexington KY to Memphis TN. The van also smelled like someone smoked in it.Reviewed 2023 Aug 04

We rented a car. The guy gave us a car with bald tires and 65,000 miles on it. When we said we weren’t taking that because it was unsafe he said well all I have are vans that haven’t been cleaned, but said pick one out. My husband picked one and then the guy started rudely asking why he wanted that one?? Then another couple had just reserved a car online and came right over and he didn’t have a car for them, but told them they could take the one he was going to give us and that guy said he was not taking the one with bald tires either. No car at pick-up location. Avis would not do anything to get me a replacement car. Had to take a taxi ($24) to airport for new pick & drop off ($24), 2-hours out of the way. Vehicle had been in bumper accident. Terrible experience.Reviewed 2023 Apr 04

i booked a camry for $100 one day and the pick up was in lexington and the drop off in Columbus. i had to wait long time for the agent because there was no one in the front desk. then, he came and told me we had only a truck car availavle.( note that before i came to the branch, i made a call to AVIS to confirm the availability, and they told me it is available!) i was force to take the truck, so i can finsh my work at columbus. i had a low back pain and the truck was not comfortable. also, after i made the drop off by one day, i got an email form AVIS with the receipt. i was shocked from the charged price! it was $250 for one day trip! the original price was $100. i contacted the and did not get any explination about the extra chargeReviewed 2023 Feb 18

Avis was a great disappointment! The bus I booked and confirmed severally through phone calls was said to be unavailable when I went to pick up. We were all set for the trip and suddenly no bus. Got a call early in the morning that there were no cars available for me to use. Was panicked. Called to confirm that I had heard the message correctly. Went to counter anyway, and they guy working (different than worker I had talked to earlier) couldn’t have been any nicer and said of course we have some cars available. I could reserve online but when went to the site, they didn't have car for me. They blamed priceline for taking reservation and they showed no sympathy or ex[pressed any regrets on my inconvenience. The avis front desk person suggested me to call 800 number and ask a different pick up location, I did and they directed me to a different location. Same problem, no car in the second pick up location (Lexington airport) as well. At the end, avis at airport gave me a 12 seater an (I had reserved a small 5-seater) which I drove all the way to Indianapolis. So pthetic. No consideration of my hassle. No discount. No professionalism. Will never trust Avis again.Reviewed 2021 Oct 21
