Pros:

They were closed for my pickup time, so I wasn't able to get the car. I had to walk to a nearby competitor and ended up paying more.

Cons:

Be clear about hours, and don't let me book a car for pickup if I can't pick it up.

The car's fabric seats were super dirty and just looked old. The car's heat also did not work so we spent the entire rental with no heat in the middle of winter.

I booked my car for 48 hours, but when I tried to drop it off after 47 hours, I learned the drop off location had closed 30 minutes earlier. Because the location was closed at the expiration time of my reservation, they charged me an extra day It would have been nice, when I picked up the car, if they had pointed out that the return location was going to be closed at 5pm on Saturday, as I could have easily been there by the 4pm closing time.

Pick up was painful! Waited over 45 minutes to get to the agent. She was nice enough but then gave me a car that was too big and I took it because I just wanted to get out of there… as I was about to drive out I wanted a smaller car so I had to go back inside (and wait) for the car I originally wanted

Car was dirty from the outside. Service was poor...the agency sent incorrect invoice indicating and charging for 7 gallons of fuel when car was returned with full tank. Either agency is incompetent or too lazy to check vehicle fuel gauge.

Car was great and ready for when we needed it. Felt that we didn’t really have the option to prepay for a tank of Petrol upon return explained to us properly when we collected the car. We returned the car with half a tank of petrol and expected we would get a credit for that but no.

Desk staff was helpful.

Cons:

Car wasn't clean, Lot attendant was not very friendly. seemed annoyed we had to report a scratch on the car and didnt know the exit process at this location We'd been told car had EZ pass enabled, but most tolls showed it unpaid. Hoping we didn't rack up a lot of fines.

Cons:

The car smelled bad when we received it, it was quite damages. After a moth of hacving returned it without any issues, Avis is claiming that I was responsible for the damage which I was absolutely not. I have insurance and their signed form which already proves the damage was the previous to my rental dat, but still I need to be involved in defending this claims and tenths of long and time wasting calls with them and their claims company. I will NEVER rent from Avis again

Pros:

Easy pick-up. Easy drop-off. Flat-rate for tolls was amazing. No fuss at any step in the process. Both offices were friendly staffed and quick.

Cons:

The floors in the back of the car were a little dirty. Not a huge deal. The car also didn't get particularly good mileage for an economy, but again, no biggie.

The car was great and process was very easy. The only thing people may want to consider is to pay for the gas option (bring it back empty) which I know is not typically the most economical. Let me explain. The office closes at 6pm sharp. If you miss that, you have the car another day. I came back on the day of a Red Sox game. The closest gas station was about a mile away. However, when I got there, they had stopped selling gas to park cars around their pumps. Then the second gas station I found did the same! I found one even further out that finally would sell me gas. With all the Fenway traffic and the hassle, I would have bit the bullet paid the “bring it back empty” option.

they tried to make me sign something that said there was nothing wrong with the car (upon pickup) before I saw the car. It was... sketchy. I was able to go look at the car, but it was weird that I had to ask to do that.

We had to wait for our car about an hour at pickup. Other than that car pickup and drop off was smooth. The agent was very helpful and the car was exactly what we needed for a fair price.

Cons:

The toll package is crazy, we paid $1 to get out of Massachusetts, coming back in we hit that toll with no cash, but it’s only 1.50 it’s a really bad place to have a toll and it should just be included! Especially since there is a toll receiver on the car.

We were well taken care of after an initial hiccup of not knowing the dealer closed at 3:30 pm. We were forced to rent a car at full rate for the first night which was expensive. More communication about the closing time spills have been helpful. Also a phone number that reaches a person would be nice.

Daily rate and quality of the vehicle was good, but lots of hidden fees that were not explained at pick-up. If you need to use EZPass, Thrifty requires you to pay a daily rate for each day you have the car, even if only going through tolls 1 day.

Pros:

Car was clean, and manager at drop-off was kind enough to compensate us for the issues we ran into with the car.

Cons:

Agent at the counter tried to deceptively add a hefty insurance charge to the trip. Car clearly had not been serviced in a while because it developed major engine issues just a few days into our trip (including the engine shutting off while traveling through the mountains, we needed to engage the parking brake to stop the car), and exchanging it was a very difficult and laborious process.

The car was great, but even though it was “cleaned and sanitized,” it reeked of marijuana smoke! We could not get the smell out of the car, and it was very unpleasant.

You guys screwed me. I specifically asked for a car at Logan airport and your dumb app reserved a car for me in downtown Boston. Got to the airport and there was no car. No number to call to straighten it out. So I had to rent a car at the airport and paid double. Needless to say I was not happy. I will not be using Kayak again.
