The car shown in the photos was completely different from the one delivered there. We complained, and they said it was Kayak’s fault because the photo was not of a car that is within that rental category.

2 big problems: - when picking up the car the Lied and said only had electric or 14 passenger van. Once they found out electric car wasn’t charged, they said they had gas van - had flat tire. There were much closer budgets with plenty of cars, but they all refused to allow exchange. Ridiculous! Had to spend 3 hours to drive to and back from a dirty airport in Rhode Island to get car Absolutely greedy, and poor customer service.

Desk staff was helpful.

Cons:

Car wasn't clean, Lot attendant was not very friendly. seemed annoyed we had to report a scratch on the car and didnt know the exit process at this location We'd been told car had EZ pass enabled, but most tolls showed it unpaid. Hoping we didn't rack up a lot of fines.

Cons:

The car smelled bad when we received it, it was quite damages. After a moth of hacving returned it without any issues, Avis is claiming that I was responsible for the damage which I was absolutely not. I have insurance and their signed form which already proves the damage was the previous to my rental dat, but still I need to be involved in defending this claims and tenths of long and time wasting calls with them and their claims company. I will NEVER rent from Avis again

I booked my car for 48 hours, but when I tried to drop it off after 47 hours, I learned the drop off location had closed 30 minutes earlier. Because the location was closed at the expiration time of my reservation, they charged me an extra day It would have been nice, when I picked up the car, if they had pointed out that the return location was going to be closed at 5pm on Saturday, as I could have easily been there by the 4pm closing time.

Pick up was painful! Waited over 45 minutes to get to the agent. She was nice enough but then gave me a car that was too big and I took it because I just wanted to get out of there… as I was about to drive out I wanted a smaller car so I had to go back inside (and wait) for the car I originally wanted

Car was dirty from the outside. Service was poor...the agency sent incorrect invoice indicating and charging for 7 gallons of fuel when car was returned with full tank. Either agency is incompetent or too lazy to check vehicle fuel gauge.

Pros:

Car was clean, and manager at drop-off was kind enough to compensate us for the issues we ran into with the car.

Cons:

Agent at the counter tried to deceptively add a hefty insurance charge to the trip. Car clearly had not been serviced in a while because it developed major engine issues just a few days into our trip (including the engine shutting off while traveling through the mountains, we needed to engage the parking brake to stop the car), and exchanging it was a very difficult and laborious process.

The car was great, but even though it was “cleaned and sanitized,” it reeked of marijuana smoke! We could not get the smell out of the car, and it was very unpleasant.
