The representative was very helpful and extremely nice. Just a little disappointed that the a car this new wouldn't come equipped with a power seat.Reviewed 2024 Jul 25

When we were near the end of a grueling day of international travel and east coast travel delays, Dollar accepted reservations for a car to help us complete a trip after we missed a connection. When we arrived at the connecting airport, we left the secured area to get the rental car to continue our trip. We were informed at the counter they had no cars available, nor did any other rental car companies at the airport. After an enlightening discussion about the DEFINITION OF THE WORD "RESERVATION" a la Seinfeld, we made our way back to the terminal to sleep on the floor since there were no hotel rooms available, either. After we stood in line at security for an hour, TSA abruptly closed for the night, leaving hundreds, potentially thousands, of people stuck between the curb and security with no services other than restrooms. Many people were crying because they were missing late night flights. After sleeping on the floor in the security corral, we finally got back through TSA to wait several more hours for our rebooked flight. Why do I BLAME DOLLAR for this nightmare? Because if they hadn't LIED ABOUT HAVING CARS AVAILABLE AND ACCEPTED RESERVATIONS, which we thought solved the problem, we wouldn't have had a travel experience so bad we are canceling all plans including Dollar, the airport, and the airline.Reviewed 2024 Jul 25

My wife broke her wrist enroute to Canada requiring surgery in Fiji. At pick up I asked Dollar to change name of driver to mine. They said that the booking agent would not pay them if they didn't charge me NZD289 as an additional driver. In the circumstances I thought this totally unreasonable.Reviewed 2024 Jul 24

The biggest issue was a noise coming from the back of the vehicle when driving over 60 m/ hr. I contacted Dollar, but unfortunately, there were no locations anywhere near where I was. it was bothersome because I was hoping that the car wouldn’t break down in the middle of nowhere.Reviewed 2024 Jul 24

It was a little confusing getting to the dollar counter and getting the car. The rental car smelled like smoke, and apple CarPlay (Bluetooth) kept on disconnecting multiple times.Reviewed 2024 Jul 22

Dollar did fine except when I rented the vehicle (large, 8-passenger van) I attempted to add drivers, but the rental clerk (very busy!) said it was not possible. Something about not on my original rental request. That caused me personal problems during the week. The vehicle I got was clean and comfortable, and had pretty decent leg space for my passengers.Reviewed 2024 Jul 21

Charged me an extra $120 to switch my drop-off back to the original pickup location. I booked a $140 rental and it ended up costing me $331.Reviewed 2024 Jul 21

Top tips for renting a car from Dollar in Pittsburgh

  • Pittsburgh is under 60 square miles, which makes it significantly smaller than other big Pennsylvania cities like Philadelphia in terms of size. But it’s the second most populated city in the state. The streets in Pittsburgh can become congested at times, as the traffic in the area has gotten worse in recent years. When you book Dollar car rentals in Pittsburgh, it would be worth looking into the possibility of securing a compact car or, at the very least, a standard-size car that will be easy to drive around in and park.
  • While compact and standard-size rental cars will be ideal for many people renting vehicles in the Pittsburgh area, Dollar will be able to extend many other options to those in need of rental cars. From full-size cars to standard station wagons to full-size SUVs, you will be able to choose the type of vehicle that will work best for your needs. Dollar can’t always guarantee they’ll have a specific make and model, but a representative will work to find you the type of rental car that you’re in the market for.
  • The Pennsylvania Turnpike runs through Pittsburgh and helps connect it to some other large cities in the state, including Philadelphia and Harrisburg. If you plan to use the PA Turnpike at all when you’re in Pittsburgh, you will be subjected to tolls. Dollar has a special PlatePass program that will help you pay these tolls without having to worry about scrambling for cash. When you sign up for this program, it’ll take care of toll payments for a small fee and provide you with peace of mind.
  • Driving around in Pittsburgh can be a lot more confusing than driving in some other cities. The streets weren’t originally set up on a grid system, and there are between 400 and 500 bridges in the city, which may result in your getting lost if you take even a single wrong turn. When you book Dollar car rentals in Pittsburgh, you can request Dollar Connect GPS, which will help you navigate your way around town without you ending up on a bridge you would rather not cross.
  • Compact rental cars from Dollar in Pittsburgh are around -14% cheaper than other car types, on average.
