Economy Rent-a-Car posts a low price on services like Kayak/Priceline- but then when you get to the pickup spot in Costa Rica you learn that mandatory insurance will cost you much more than the cost of the car. At that point you have little choice but to either get no car, or pay the overage, as the booking is non-refundable. It feels upsetting and dishonest. Pros:Staff was friendlyCons:Price is incredibly misleading. What I reserved was a week long rental for a SUV. When we finally got to the rental counter, they surprised us with government mandated insurance, which caused the price to skyrocket. By the end of it, the cheapest option we had, which was “insurance” that still has us liable for all damages and expenses to the sum of $500+ for a week. Had I known the total price before booking, I wouldn’t have even bothered. Look elsewhere for a car rental.Reviewed 2019 Oct 19
