Newark rental experience was awesome. Unfortunately my rental was supposed to be picked up at Laguardia airport, and the Hertz team from LaGuardia is about the most disrespectful you could have find anywhere in the USA. They forced me to get an Uber and made me go to Newark to pick up the rental over a technicality that I was not responsible for. I spent 3 hours in the whole process, and I experienced the worse level of customer service at an airport’s Hertz rental location there at LaGuardia. I booked a vehicle rental through Kayak as I was landing at Newark airport and when I showed up at the Herz counter at the airport I was told that they had no reservation. It turned out that the app defaulted me to an off site Herz location that was miles away (which seems perfectly illogical) from the airport and there was nothing the people at Hertz could do because I booked it through Kayak. I had no means of travel to the location in question and the folks at Herz were unable to offer me any assistance. Why the app would have defaulted a passenger on foot at an airport to some far off location miles away from the airport when there is no means of getting there is beyond me. After wasting about an hour of my time figuring out what a bind Kayak put me in, I tried to cancel my reservation, but was informed by the app that I could not. What absolute garbage. I walked next door to Avis and walked out with a rental in five minutes. I am hereby contesting these charges, as I will do through my credit card company, as it was entirely Kayak’s fault for defaulting to an off site car rental without any notice whatsoever to the user. Herz did nothing wrong. This was entirely Kayak’s fault.Reviewed 2021 Dec 15

Cons:As far as I am concerned they can keep their car racist setup and that’s all I can say not to mention putting two black token in the front of their establishment pretending they are an equal opportunity employer or whatever putting them their to be the bearer of bad news I am not from there so I saw it so plain ...and a very diverse traveled indevidual dealing with all types of people from different backgrounds and ethnicity ..hertz I am personally is very disappointed of you ...but the greatest thing in life is to knowReviewed 2021 May 28

Cons:I made the reservation and paid in advance, only to find when arriving at the counter that I’ve been placed on a Do not rent ban. The staff at the counter could not tell me why or help me any further and made me call a customer service line, where I waited for 20 minutes on hold. Since I was in a time crunch, I had to walk away and rent with a different service. Why did Hertz not flag my account when I paid for my reservation in advance, instead of wasting my time when I was already ready to pick up the car? Who knows. I still have not been able to get through to their specific phone line to figure out why my account has been blocked, after calling multiple times. I last rented with Hertz a few months ago, and never received any notice about my account being blocked.Reviewed 2021 Mar 10

Pros:Nothing. Hertz did not have an available car from me at the location my reservation time, even though I made AND PAID FOR the reservation in advance. The location not only ran out of cars hours before my reservation, but they did not think to even call me to tell me that they will not be able to honor my reservation. I had to commute almost two hours to reach the Hertz location. I only found out AFTER reaching the Hertz location that my reservation would not be honored. The location also refused to assist me with my dilemma. I am STILL actively trying to get my money back for a service they refused to provide.Cons:Confirm the location will have a car when a reservation is made in advance. I made the reservation over a week in advance. There is NO REASON AT ALL for Hertz to not have a car ready for me when I arrived.Reviewed 2019 Nov 18

Pros:Everyone was super freindly, professiona and personable. Most efficient turn in ever. The staff were all pleasant; the facility spotless; even the restrooms wer exceptionally clean.Cons:I commented to my husband that it was th best rental experience ever.Reviewed 2019 Oct 25
