Pros: Staff was super friendly and helpful, and took the time to explain their Covid procedures to us during check-in. The rooftop terrace is lovely, and the room was perfectly clean and comfortable.

Pros: They love dogs and that made us happy! Room was beautiful! We were right next to the elevator and that was super convenient for our dog needs but we could hear the elevator open and close all night which was annoying. Not much you can do about that though.

Pros: Its been awhile since I have stayed at Marc Spencer but the renovations are amazing. My roomwas on the first floor that used to be mini suites a long time ago. I was lucky to have a room with a view of the stage for this year's pride block part . Was a blast! I'll definetly be coming back!

Pros: For our first trip to Portland, this hotel had a prime location for when we did our tours across town. Given the area, it never took much time to get to and from, and to keep busy with all the opportunities available.
Cons: While the hotel staff were friendly, and our room and other amenities were fine, we did get placed in a room next to major construction going on in the rooms next door. Buzz saws at 9:00 in the morning is not something I find appealing about my hotel stay. We stayed for three nights, two mornings. The first morning, I was up early and did not make a fuss. The second morning, the noise was too much to bare. I called the front desk and was offered a room change, but since we were leaving very early the next day, the inconvenience outweighed the option. I understand hotels go through modifications, but my preference would have been for the staff to have enough foresight and not placed anyone in the hall, let alone the room right next to major construction.

Pros: The hotel is clean, convenient and quiet. I stayed here probably 15 or 20 years ago and it has been substantially cleaned up, renovated, and remodeled. The staff is very helpful and the breakfast buffet and other food serving is great. It's a great value for a great hotel at a great location. Highly recommended.
Cons: They are doing a little construction now (February 2014) so if you need to sleep during the day, you might want to pick another hotel.

Pros: The staff was extremely helpful, and very accommodating. We got upgraded to a larger bed, and was also offered help for dinner options and entertainment every night. They even have a small kitchenette, if your trying to save a little money on food.

Pros: This was a complete random choice thru hotel tonight app but I could not leave once I saw the lobby : the citizens bakery and then the amazing room : I ended up extending my stay thru 9 more days! Great happy staff and excellent realistic affordable room rates made me continue to call this home / I'm happy there and I consider it my new Portland home when I'm in town

Pros: We loved the quality of our king size mattress and how the housekeeping team did an exceptional job tending to our room. We also loved that we were able to text the hotel 24/7 to ask about places to eat, sightseeing, and other recommendations anytime, anywhere! It's really in a wonderfully located spot that is quiet, calm, and relaxing. What a wonderful staff!

The cleaning crew started cleaning rooms at 9am. So much for respecting their guest.. We've stayed at a handful of Red Lion hotels and this one is by far the WORST!! Save yourself some money and aggravation and book the Quality Inn across the street!

Pros: We loved everything. The bed was very comfortable. The room was beautiful and spacious and modern. The shower was amazing. It was huge and had 3 different shower heads. All of the staff was super friendly an amazing. The girl working the front desk upgraded us to a suite. without any charge just because we had mentioned it was date night when she asked us what brought us to Portland. The room we stayed in had floor-to-ceiling Windows which was so pretty at night. We have robes too. as a woman the other thing I loved was our shower head shampoo conditioner and body wash pumps on the wall. I normally bring my own shampoo and conditioner when I travel because in those little tiny bottles there's never enough product. So being able to use as much conditioner as I needed was a definite plus. We also had dessert at the restaurant which was super delicious. It was a gorgeous evening in the rooftop bar is lovely. Overall it was a wonderful experience and we will definitely be back.

Cons: Parking was not explained very well, and expensive. The valets ignored us for over 10 min before we drove off and parked in the garage that was less than a block away. Turned out to be the same garage the valet uses, and has a tunnel connected to the hotel. Room was dark due to only having one small window in the corner.

All prices worth the stay and food great especially the eggs benedict! Bacon to die for! Free wine tasting and a real hot spot on Saturday night! Of course Holiday time helps. Front desk very nice and easy check-in and out. In the heart of downtown Portland and walking distance to the famous Saturday/Sunday Market. Going back many times now....and I only live one hour away.

Pros: This place makes me think of the kind of hotel that upperclass blue bloods would go to when in Portland. Nice lounge, homey luxurious atmosphere and great staff. My only gripe is that it has aged a bit. It is well kept and the rooms are clean but it is a tad older. Cons: The hotel is dated. The look can be charming. But I don't think that chipped paint, old and over-exposed grout, faded/worn carpets, tough mattresses are part of the decor. Maybe other rooms in the hotel have been updated, but my room was not. I also faced a very load street/area so I would recommend asking for an updated room (if they have any), and for a room in a quiet location.

Pros: Very comfortable bed and staff was quite friendly. Great lobby and building with a ton of character, historic architecture, marble, and classic woodwork. (If you want a sleek, modern, generic place that looks the same as a hotel in any other city, this is not the hotel for you.)

Because I wanted a single large bed and the hotel was pretty full, I think maybe I had that oddball room that most older hotels have that are squeezed into a non-regular space. In this case, it also happened to be near housekeeping, which was noisy in the morning with carts being banged around. The room was fine but smaller than one might expect. The bathroom was ok for me but would have been an issue for someone who spends more time getting ready. There was not even enough room to stand squarely in front of the tiny sink because a bookcase/shelving unit was put on the wall right in the area in front of sink. I had to shave at an odd angle, off to the side of the sink.

The lady at the front desk quoted us an insanely high price, and when I said cheaper was available online she said “well I guess you should book that then.” When to check in 5 minutes later and felt like she deliberately gave us the worst room furthest from the elevator on the lowest floor. They were also under construction which I didn’t realize till I was in the room and there was a piece of paper informing me. Amenities were a joke. Regret booking this place when there were a dozen better options in the same area.

Pros: People at Kimpton hotels are amazing across the board but we found the team at The Vintage to be especially kind and caring. From the front desk staff to the bartenders we had great conversations with each person we met and that made it feel so welcoming. We'll definitely be going back.

Pros: We stayed for one night at his hotel. We had dropped someone off at the airport at 7 am and we're just driving around Portland looking for something to do until we could check into the hotel at 3pm, I decided to call about noon and we were able to check in early that was such a life saver we were so tired!! The breakfast INCLUDED in the room rate was more than I expected, Hot omelets, potatoes and sausage as well as normal hotel breakfast items. It was a great stay and the price made it even better! Will most definitely be going back if we need to stay in Portland again.

The staff said that they had "just tested the water and it was fine." There is no way it was fine! Our little one looks forward to the pool time and there was no way we could have swam without major health risks.The rooms are shabby and not Cleaned well, lots of hair left through and crumbs on the sofa. STAY SOMEWHERE ELSE! We left after the first night!

Pros: I LOVED our time at the Duniway. Great location, clean rooms, cool vibe and amazing staff. Everyone was super friendly and helpful. The restaurant in the hotel, Jackrabbit, serves remarkable food. We are there every morning and one evening. Everything from the drinks to dessert was super creative, flavorful and just incredible. We had originally planned breakfasts at other restaurants but Jackrabbit was so good that we just kept going back.

My room faced the highway and the train tracks, so it was quite loud. They did however provide earplugs. But because my room is so hot, I had to sleep with the windows open, and unfortunately both of the screens on my windows were so severely torn they were worthless. I informed the staff about the screens and the next day they were still torn when I returned. I called the manager and he immediately came up and fix the screens for me and offered me an upgrade to a suite. So overall not that bad!

Pros: It happened to be 100 degrees that day in Portland and my air conditioning in the room went out. They immediately came to my room and while facilities management couldn't fix it they moved me very quickly to new room and one with a better view.
Cons: I arrived in Portland at 9 am ( I know check in time is 4 pm) but I travel often and it's generally never a problem to get a room by noon. They told me they would call me when a room was ready. I called at 1:30 pm to see what the eta of my room would be. The front desk woman at that time was short and seemed put out when she said "it's ready". The provided toiletries are cheesy Tommy Bahama brand with an intense pina colada scent that I was a bit embarrassed to smell like all day. The bed only comes with a comforter, strangely folded on top of a bare fitted sheet, so you have to make your own bed. The king bed comes with two of these, each covering half the bed. Just weird. When I asked the front desk for room service to give me a top sheet, I was told I could find one in the closet and to make the bed myself.

Pros: The hotel is in a great location and upon entering all you see is a grand lobby decorated completely for Christmas. The checkin/check out process was incredibly easy and the staff was friendly. Even got a free upgrade on the room since we were there for only a night which was a huge and wonderful surprise. The room itself was clean and modern and the bed made me want to stay forever. The hotel offered complementary drinks at night which was a nice surprise and the morning breakfast was such a great experience as compared to other hotel's "breakfasts". Pros: Location was perfect, being close to everything. I could walk almost everywhere and taking the light rail was easy. The 2 bedroom suite was spacious and clean, with large windows letting light in. The included breakfast was nice and had a lot of choice, compared to other hotels I've been to. It included the common toast and cereals, but also had a hot breakfast with eggs, bacon, sausages, potatoes and moreover there was a make your own omelette stand with a chef preparing what you ordered in front of you.
Cons: Elevators are small and having a stroller made it more difficult to get to our room. The Kitchenette is not really a kitchenette, just a little counter space with a small sink, a coffee maker with not enough coffee for more than 2 people, a small fridge and an outdated microwave. I woke up in the middle of the night clearly hearing the conversation of the next door neighbour, so not soundproof.

Hotel has a large and impressive, art-deco (or earlier?) style lobby... and the rooms are furnished in a similar style. Think 1920's.
Cons: For a 'suite' hotel, the kitchenette amenities were lacking. There is a mini-fridge, microwave and two-cup coffee maker... which are all great, except there are no dishes, no cups (just paper cups for coffee), no utensils and no toaster. Plates and utensils were brought up to the room upon request, but after deliberately seeking out a 'suite' style hotel with a kitchenette (they are hard to find in Portland), this was disappointing. Also, we were given a room around the corner and behind the elevators. I'd read in other reviews that this could be noisy, so I was a little concerned upon check-in. Ultimately, this didn't bother me too much as I'm from a busy city and used to sleeping with some noise - but be forewarned that if you get one of these rooms anywhere near the elevators, they are noisy and almost sound like a subway car passing along the tracks. Not jarring or rattling sounds, but still a hard-to-miss rolling, whooshing sound every time an elevator car goes up or down past your floor.

Probably ok for prospective students, the campus might look more appealing (by contrast) after spending the night here. It is NOT close to downtown - yes you can walk it but it takes 15 min through non-inspiring neighborhood. Also - remember the extra $15 for parking - there is no street parking outside unless you're ok with walking 10 minutes, hence the gauging. My bottom line: I would advise against booking this one for any non-university function.

"there were infomercials" I heard the breakfast was very good from a person in our party but, I had already left to get a meal at another hotel by the water as with all the prior experiences I was not ready to risk eating there. Pros: We had stayed there a few weeks ago and thought that the room was adequate for the price, particularly since the hotel is located in downtown Portland. When we had to be in Portland again we made another reservation, expecting a similar experience.
Cons: I don't know if it was the area of the hotel or what, but we found our room to be very noisy. There apparently is no sound insulation between rooms so we could hear a lot of what was going on in adjacent rooms, plus people talking in the hallway. Secondly, the mattress on the bed must have been older because we found ourselves waking up with sore backs in the morning. I hope that this experience was an anomaly but we'll have second thoughts before considering this hotel again.

Pros: The staff was friendly and attentive. Rooms were cleaned promptly during the day. The breakfast buffet was standard fare and did not vary in my four day stay. The hotel is located right next to a light rail stop which makes it convenient to get around town. I found using the rail to see Portland easier than renting a car, however if you plan on going outside the city a car is a good idea. The bed was pretty comfortable and the room was clean. I would likely stay here again but in what the hotel calls a "Comfort King" that has a few more amenities such as fridge (if you are like me and like to keep a few snacks around). There is a courtyard and pool area that was well maintained. Several softballs teams attending a tournament monopolized the area in the late afternoon/evening making it essentially unusable for other guests.
Cons: The room I stayed in, Standard King, was very dated. The carpet had holes worn in some spots. The electrical switch in the bathroom and an outlet in the room were not mounted correctly in their sockets. This type of room is quite basic. No fridge, no microwave, lamps were mismatched (the desk lamp had a burnt out bulb that maintenance never replaced). The furniture and wallpaper were most likely from the 80's. I found the rooms cooling/heating unit never shut off. It seemed to never get to a pre-set temperature, it just ran and ran. If you are sensitive to background noise this will be an issue. The breakfast buffet was alright. It did not offer much in the way of selections. Even fresh fruit was kept to just bananas, oranges or apples. I had a veggie burger at the Lincoln Street Grill in the hotel for dinner one night. The salad that came with it was just iceberg lettuce, diced tomato and cucumber. No frills. The burger was alright and the price was affordable.

Cons: The area does not feel very safe. There is not a security patrol around the parking lot, and two cars were broken into, and items were stolen, including a car seat. One car simply had an empty McDonald's bag, and still had their window broken. That is Portland, though. You simply cannot leave anything in a car, or it will be broken into. I would not feel safe staying here without my husband.

The morning shuttle driver was incredibly friendly and helpful, and most of the staff I encountered were great. The hotel was fine as a place to crash for a single night. Cons: The air-freshener used in the hallway is the same one used by many porta-potty companies. Hence, the hallway reminded me of an outhouse. Might want to work on that.... The windows are NOT sound blocking - and the hotel is at the foot of the runway, so if jets bother you, this will be a problem (PDX is pretty quiet from 11pm to 5/6am though, luckily) There was an outdoor light mounted just outside my window that had an incredibly loud transformer hum, which was very very annoying. Walkability is incredibly low. You will need a car here if you want to go get food, unless you're cool with walking about a mile to the local restaurants (you can take the shuttle also, which I didn't do as I do like to walk and the weather was nice.) The rooms do NOT exclude external sounds very well. Doors slamming up and down halls are clearly audible and startlingly loud at times. Conversation of people walking by, etc. Overall, it's more that the hotel is ALMOST an excellent 2 star hotel than anything particularly bad.

Pros: We really liked how close the hotel is to the airport, how convenient it was to park our car while we flew, and the airport shuttle. The best part was the staff! The front desk people were SO friendly and helpful, the shuttle drivers were more than helpful and drove safely, and the restaurant staff went out of their way to be helpful. And what I can only assume was supposed to be the fan for the shower was a big rusty square in the wall with the rusty fan, unplugged (I didn’t dare try to plug it in) Igor above the back end of the shower.

Cons: First of all I made a reservation online under "pet friendly" and accidentally booked it for the wrong weekend. I called the hotel and the front desk was extremely rude and told me to call whomever I booked through. When we got there we were told our room was not pet friendly and our dog was not allowed. I was also asked for $100 deposit who h was never mentioned when I booked either. It was an ok room but we alarmed that the police showed up to loudly escort the people above us from their room in the middle of the night. Never ever again would I stay here. Don't do it.

Pros: Somewhere to sleep?
Cons: Crackheads rapping upon our chamber door. A night all alone i hear a rumble, so alone, er tho rumbles a crackhead so noir. Through some peephole a menace beyonde below, begging for smoke, and no more, we wished him a well travel, but sent him off with black a mild a plenty, such a uncouthed vagrant he beggdd for scrapped, yest be cast him about a yappin. Quote the crackhead "You-aint-got no mo?'". "'Tis my last square." I uttered. Though i may have softly spoken, desipite the reefer i'd been smoking., i said, "no more" "In my robe of complementary so galore I uttered begone harlot so wishing to be galore. Alas, I stayed in hotel of the trees, though noisiness never let me get a nut. Like an acorn, their rating fell, like a bat out of hell. A wonderful trip still happrnened nut unto ye, old chestnut tree.

Pros: There wasn't anything to like about this place.
Cons: To start, when I arrived, they panicked because they didn't have my room. All they could do is put me in a smoking room. I took it because I needed a place to stay. And as far as I can tell I still paid the extra that I reserved through Kayak for a non smoking room. The room smelled like smoke, and the lady at the front desk offered to spray it for me. Really? The bed and pillows had burn holes in them, which I had to disclose so I could get my $50 deposit back. This place is a joke, do not stay here!

Pros: The bed was very comfortable and made every day of our stay. It is very easy to get into downtown because it is right next to the main highways.
