Our check in was awful. We had a 9am pickup time and at 9:45 they said it was be another 45 minutes. Then they up-charged us for a smaller vehicle that was ready and we couldn’t wait because we were traveling with small children that needed to get home for naps.Reviewed 2022 May 21

Thrifty counter was unmanned and had to use Hertz counter to be served. Waited for an hour to get a car. Staff was surly. However we ended up with a car a couple grades above compact. Clean good running car that still got 40+mpg. Dropped car off at LAX, so I can’t speak to the drop off experience in Oakland, but it was very straightforward. Drive up, park, and walk away. Zero interaction with people whatsoever. That could be good or bad, depending on your preference.Reviewed 2022 May 09

Had no problems at all with this rental. From the time the reservation was made to the time the car was dropped off. Extremely easy from pick up & drop-off. Seamless process. The car was ready, clean when picked up, and ready to go. And the value for money was excellent. I shopped directly with several major brands (Hertz, Avis, Budget, etc.) and this was by far the cheapest price.Reviewed 2021 Nov 15

The service that I encountered during pick-up was most likely the worst I had ever to endure. The Thrifty counter at OAK was closed and customers redirected to the Hertz section. At Hertz we saw two lines -- one for Hertz, the other for Thrifty/Dollar. The line on the Hertz section consisted of 2 people, the other line of 40!! Suddenly, the person assigned to book in Thrifty customers went for lunch (at 10am)!! We were waiting for over 2 hours. When we finally got the car and were leaving the parking lot, only one window was open, the lady at the gate completely incapable of dealing with all the cars, so it took us again 30 minutes to leave the lot. It should be embarrassing to an established rental car company as Thrifty to treat customers so badly. I hope you find a way to ask us for forgiveness. Best wishes, Vsevolod RAHRReviewed 2021 Nov 12

Waited 45min in the Hertz line after searching 30min for a Thrifty Rep. Then told they have my reserves rental car away so I could wait an hour and maybe get one. The extended time made me get deeper into rush hour traffic. I was told there were 3 others waiting doe cars. Heard managers laugh Ian’s having a good time in the back room while we waited in line which made it feel like they could have come up to help. Ended up getting a Lyft and just reminded me of why it’s been 10yrs since I rented a car.Reviewed 2021 Aug 14
