No office inside the airport. No signage. No shuttle pickup. And that’s just for starters. Wrong car the first try, had to come BACK to the airport the next morning for my reserved car. Long wait time., overall subpar experience.Reviewed 2023 Feb 21

I was charged for additional insurance when making the reservation and when i picked up my car was told the insurance I had was not acceptable and needed to take out budgets insurance which ended up costing me double what i was expecting to pay. car rental pick up in Santo Domingo is a very long and drawn out procedure it took me over 30 minutes to complete all the paper work and get the required documents and pay so i could go and get the car. the entire pick up process from time I got to the counter until I drove off the lot was over an hour which is just not acceptable. When finally departing with the car I was not informed that on return I must not follow signs to car rental drop off but go towards the terminal where the new budget office is. So on my return I went to the car rental area and once inside I realized I was in the wrong spot and then could not exit as needed a ticket to exit called budget who said they would come get me in about 5 minutes but this did not happen after waiting for about 20 minutes was fortunate that an employee from another rental company gave me an exit ticket so I get out and told me where to go. When I finally got to the budget drop off office and asked why I was not informed not to follow car rental signs was told but you picked the car up from here you should have know. Though by using a well know company would avoid all these issues but realize that was not the case. if renting cars at Las Americas airport Santo Domingo factor in at least 1 hour or more to get your carReviewed 2023 Jan 22

The reception staff terrorize you if you’ve taken out Allianz insurance as offered through the Kayak/Expedia platform (as it happens, it would have been cheaper to purchase coverage on site) but we found that experience very unpleasant. The shuttle took almost 40 minutes to pick us up. Each time we asked via phone we were told it was on its way and would get there in less than 5 minutes. Later we find out that pick up facility was a short walking distance and we could have saved more than 30 minutes by just walking. The vehicle was not ready and we were provided with a dirty substitute.Reviewed 2021 Aug 20

Pros:The facility is very close to the terminal but the agent helpfully dropped me off in front using the same car I was returning.Cons:The car's air conditioner was not up to the task of cooling the car during the sunniest, hottest parts of the days--this was true over several hours while cruising at highway speeds. Also, the suspension was pretty worn out. The car bounced around a lot over rough road surfaces.Reviewed 2019 Apr 03
