I arrived at the Budget counter at 6pm to find five people in line and only one agent. The line was closed and new arrivals were directed to the Avis counter. The Avis counter had 8 people in line and only one agent. After about 20 minutes another agent was added, but the line had grown even longer. As an agent finished they asked if there were any Avis or Budget Premier customers and took them first (that was frustrating, but I understood why). It seemed like we would be waiting at least an hour to get our car. I noticed that the Sixt counter next door had only one person in line and two agents. I used my phone to book a car with Sixt and dumped my Budget reservation. As I left with my keys I whispered to others in the Avis line, "Sixt has cars and they are quick..."Reviewed 2025 Feb 11

Car was excellent and met our needs very well. The exterior of car was dirty and windshield especially. Tucson does not have rain that often, so car could have been washed.Reviewed 2024 Oct 25

I got to my reservation time and there was maybe 12-15 people in line with two workers in the front. I stood in line for over 2 hours. Not once did the employees apologize. Maybe 3-5 people left the line to enterprise and was in line less than 15 minutes. Myself after the 2 hours past my reservation time, one worker just grabs her stuff and just says “someone will be with you”. Waiting for the one desk employee for around 20 minutes. I make it to the counter to find out that budget did not have the car I reserved. I left the counter and walked to enterprise. I will never go back to budget.Reviewed 2024 Aug 20

The woman at the service desk was very kind. Unfortunately, the mini van was damaged before I got it off the lot so I had to get another one. The second van was not clean. Very poor representation for Budget.Reviewed 2024 Jun 04

I needed a car at the last minute due to a canceled flight from Tucson. The only way to get to our destination for a celebratory event was to book a flight on another airline from Phoenix. I was able to make a car reservation online from my phone which was easy to do. When the counter opened the service person was very helpful but the added charges were very confusing and unclear. What started as a less than one-day rental to get from the Tucson airport to Phoenix airport costing about $100 turned into a rental for less than 8 hours for $250. Otherwise, the rental was excellent.Reviewed 2024 May 21

Kayak didn't prompt me for my FastBreak number so I initially had to stand in line, which was 10+ people and didn't move the entire time I was there. I eventually managed to add my reservation to FastBreak and was able to get my car there but I would have wasted a huge amount of time if that didn't work.Reviewed 2024 Apr 18

I wanted to rent at tucson airport, no one told me it was a mile and a half away with no shuttle. I waited for 30 minutes at the tucson airport. I had to Uber ($18) to the new site. When I arrived they said they called me while I was on the plane to tell me they cancelled my car.Reviewed 2024 Apr 15

  • Although Tucson isn’t even half as large as nearby Phoenix, it does stretch out over about 227 square miles. Because of this, you aren’t going to be able to get around town when you visit Tucson simply by walking or even using ridesharing services. Instead, you will need to look into trying to book Budget car rentals in Tucson so that you always have a reliable ride. You may also want to think about renting a fuel-friendly vehicle from Budget since you’re going to spend your fair share of time out on the road getting from one place to the next.
  • Outside of being a very big city in terms of size, Tucson also has well over half a million people living in it. As a result, it isn’t uncommon for the roads in and around Tucson to be congested, especially at rush hour. You should try to stay off the road in Tucson during rush hour if you can, and you should also consider requesting a small car from Budget that you’ll be able to use to stay out of traffic.
  • If you're going to be visiting Tucson for the first time, you might get confused when you first start trying to make your way around the city. It’ll help to have a GPS navigation system you can count on, and that’s precisely what Budget can provide for you when you ask for one. Renting a GPS will come with a small fee, but you should find that it’ll be worth it once you see how much easier it’ll be to locate things in Tucson. You can also consider other add-ons available through Budget, such as car seats for young kids and extra insurance coverage for those who would like to sign up for it.
  • As soon as you touch down in Tucson, you’ll want to begin exploring the city and all it has to offer. You don’t want to get stuck waiting in lines trying to get your hands on the keys to your rental car. When you book Budget car rentals in Tucson, you can also sign up to be a part of the Budget Fastbreak program. It’ll help you avoid lines at the Budget counter while also providing you with a slew of other perks, such as exclusive deals on rental car reservations.
  • Intermediate rental cars from Budget in Tucson are around -18% cheaper than other car types, on average.
