I booked and paid for a luxury SUV, and was booked a small SUV upon receipt. No way of contacting Kayak rental service to report at time of rental. Once arrived at air port, I had to pay an extra +$250.00 for a Mid-size SUV. We had a party of 6 people. During entire trip we had someone sitting on one’s lap or I the very back of suv, rear access. Whole trip I was concerned that we had one person that was not secured via seat belt. Not sure if this will help matters or any action will be taken by Kayak, but I did feel to express my concerns.Reviewed 2023 Jul 10

When we picked up the car the attendant was very short with us and we could hardly follow what she was saying. This was the first time me and my new wife have ever rented a car and when she asked for us to pay we just used a debit card. We were than charged and extra 28 or so dollars a day because we didn't use a credit card, which wasn't mentioned until after she charged the card, and we weren't fully aware of this beforehand. We than asked her if we could switch our payment method to a credit card, which we had with us, to avoid the extra fee. She quickly and rudely respond that she couldn't do that for us since she already ran our card. Like I mentioned this was the first time we have ever rented a car and will likely be the last time we rent with Hertz unless we can somehow get this sorted out.Reviewed 2021 Nov 01

Cons:I was never informed that the car couldn’t be taken to St John, where I was staying. That’s part of the Virgin Islands and a short ferry ride away. So I was denied rental upon arrival and then forced to find a very last minute rental from Another agency. Terrible service!Reviewed 2020 Jan 27

Pros:We prepaid for the car in St Thomas for a minivan that we were going to take to St John and have done this for years. The counter help said we couldn't take the car to St John and wouldn't offer us another car or refund our money. Had to go to Budget and get a 7 passenger vehicle at about $250 more.Cons:Hertz could have offered us a car, could have told us we can't take if off the island of St Thomas, or maybe offer to find a car from another company. Hertz also said since we made the reservation through Kayak it is not their problem. Any help Kayak?Reviewed 2019 Mar 05

Cons:I paid for a Jeep months before this trip and when we arrived they didn’t have any Jeeps at all. They said it’s either a Huyandi Sonata or nothing. They didn’t even offer to make up the price difference.Reviewed 2019 Feb 14
