The car was clean and comfortable.Cons:
More openness as to fuel charges. When I asked if I needed to bring the car back with a full tank I was told if I drive more than 75 miles I would be charged $19.95. I used 1/4 tank and was charged over $40.00. NO BARGAIN THIS RENTAL.4.8 Mediocre

Cons:
They tried to charge me for hair in the car that was there when I picked it up, and charged me a fuel fee (since I didn’t provide a receipt for the gas I bought) despite returning the car with more gas in it than when I picked it up and the only thing telling me I might need to do this being very small, vague print on the form I signed at pickup.Hertz

At pickup, your staff makes a $200 deposit charge against my credit card without letting me know. This was caught as fraud for some reason by my bank, and so the card was 'declined' - even though I PRE-PAID for the car. I immediately marked the charge as 'acceptable' in my banking app, so that it could go through. Your staff re-ran the entire process and the card was declined again - even though I had marked the second charge as acceptable in my banking app AGAIN. I had to call someone else to use their credit card, which meant we had to call to get a refund for MY booking and re-book under a new credit card. This process had to be done on the phone, after a 30min wait time, even though we were sitting directly in the Hertz office. We were extremely late when we finally got a car and the staff was not helpful. I still have to confirm that (1) I was correctly refunded my money, and (2) the two $200 'deposits' were not actually charged to my card. This was a really terrible experience and I won't be booking through Hertz again.2.0 Poor

I am now receiving harassing emails asking me to mail a check in for damage (unspecified and unreported). I can’t get in touch with anyone at Hertz and I will NEVER use this rental company again.8.4 Very good

We weren't told that an EZPass wouldn't ultimately be needed. I should have asked initially, but it was never prompted and we worried about using cash at every toll throughout our travel. When dropping off it was explained that it was not really needed anymore, but a little more customer assistance with add ons (or the fact that something is not needed) could be helpful. Maybe it's common knowledge, but I would have liked a little more info.8.0 Very good

Upgraded to a nicer car for free, only because everything else was booked. Car was filthy.Cons:

Cons:
Once I arrived at the Enterprise location, I was informed by the parking garage attendant that this location had been closed down for 2 weeks. I received no communication prior to arriving there, and was then unable to rent a car with Enterprise, as they had no cars available in the entire NYC area.10.0 Wonderful
