Never renting from this company again! Felt like I was dealing with a slimy salesman when I picked up the car at SFO. At the end of our rental period, the car (a BMW 4 Series Convertible) broke down due to mechanical issues and wouldn’t start. It took 15 minutes for the “emergency roadside assistance” phone number to be answered. The customer service agents who eventually answered showed no concern or care for our situation! They also implied that I may be responsible for the cost of towing the car. There is no way to reach the SFO rental desk directly; 1-800 numbers only that just ring and ring, even in roadside emergencies. There is a reason other car rental agencies had lines of customers at their desks and Sixt had none! I highly recommend you do NOT rent from this company!

I was not given a damage slip or told to look at the damage ahead of time on my rental car. I was told (through an email) that a scratch was there that had not been there before my rental. I drove the car the entire time with the exception of valets at my hotel and did not cause damage. Because I did not get to inspect it and was not given a form to do so, I do not have evidence that something happened under my watch and just have to take their word. I also would have liked them to tell me when I turned the car in, as I did not have a chance to see what they are saying I did. It all feels pretty unfair. This could have been resolved if they had given me a damage form ahead of time.
Efficient enough. Express pick-up was not explained beforehand.

Picking up the rental car was a terrible experience. I flew in to SFO around 5pm on Thursday and was one of the first people in line at Budget. I had already checked in online, but still had to wait in line. There were 5 people working at Avis and 1 at Budget. The Budget employee walked off for 15 minutes, popped his head in to see the growing line (from 20 to about 50 people) and walked away again. I gave him the benefit of the doubt and assumed he was taking his employee break, but there should have been more coverage, especially because Avis had so many people who refused to help the Budget customers (my understanding is they’re the same company now). After waiting 45 minutes, the checkout was quick (aside from the Budget employee trying to upsale me on everything). I eventually found my car in the parking garage and it looked like it had not been vacuumed or cleaned since the last customer. I usually book with Enterprise, but they were fully booked. You can do online check-ins instead of waiting in line, and their employees are always friendly. I will not book with Budget again.

I tried to change my reservation before traveling to SFO but couldn’t. Then when I arrived at the counter, the line of customers waiting was shockingly long. One woman was in tears after having waited in line only to be told that since she had a reservation, she was in the wrong line and needed to go downstairs instead. Once there, she found a line just as long as the one upstairs. Poor communication. Poor execution. I rented from Hertz instead. I will never book through kayak again.

This rating is for the rental car pickup in Denver. The staff was quite unconcerned about the long line of people waiting to pick up cars. They basically ignored us and concerned themselves with their computer screens. The staff numbered about 8 people but only 3-4 decided that they would wait on any customers. There were at least 25 customers in line. After waiting at least 45 minutes we finally got waited on. And then, when I finally got the car issued, it was entirely unclear what I was to do next, but I was dismissed to go outside. I was told that I was issued a “black Traverse”. After looking around and waiting in the freezing cold, I eventually found a light gray Traverse with the matching number. Needless to say I was not pleased.
Easy pick up and return. Convenient shuttle to airport terminals. No prepayment required, easy no fee cancelations. Cheaper insurance option. Customer ahead of me in line paid less than half my rate with while not meeting the company’s minimum rental standards.

I was told that they don’t have the type of vehicle I reserved for upon arrival, and they don’t accept prepaid card for security deposit. I wasted the whole amount spent on reservation. Never rent with Fox!
It’s terrible experience with counter service, louder and very unfriendly service at pick up counter.

Horrible . We booked online after our United flight was cancelled. We were greeted by an Avis rep saying " I'm going home and we have no cars" . So we went to the next rep after standing in another line- he said the only cars were electric... not what we booked and wouldn't work for the 300 mile drive we were going to take. It was after midnight. Finally , he forced us to upgrade by asking for more money and gave us a car. The lot was full of cars when we went outside to leave. He lied to us and gave us an inferior car for more money

My experience with Kayak was terrible. For the second time using Kayak, I was misled when I arrived at the car rental company’s counter. First, the car category in the company’s system was different from what I had purchased and had proof of. On top of that, the insurance wasn’t included. My Kayak reservation receipt didn’t mention anything about insurance. Unacceptable! In the end, I paid more than twice what I had originally agreed to. Truly disappointing!

Loved the process. I check in while I was waiting for my baggage. Then went right to the car and drive away. The car was EXACTLY the one I signed up for. That’s rare! Drove beautifully. Plenty of room for my 3 kids over 6’4” and myself and all our large luggage. Super easy drop off. Will 100% recommend to anyone who asks!
There were a lot of add on charges and fees, also somewhat aggressive effort to make me rent a bigger car than originally planned

What a scam. The rental cost I locked online more than doubled after they added their fees and CA taxes - the counter agent also lied and said liability was required in CA but it’s not if you have your own. She also said it was cheaper to have them refuel. Not even close. I am waiting for a resolution but wouldn’t rent from them again.

I was told I'd have a large van and was given a mini-van. The cost I agreed to was in the $900 range. I called ahead to be sure they had the van and also that they confirmed the price. When I arrived to pick it up, after waiting nearly 2 hours in line, I was charged upwards of $1600. I would never have agreed to this and found another option, however, my family was all arriving that day for a very important event and all of it depended upon having a van - and the van we received was not large enough and did not match the van that I reserved online.

Terrible. Don’t use them. They jacked up the price every way possible. They also wouldn’t honor the price booked online. Then they thought it funny to stick me with a 9 seater van instead of mid size sedan. Then they charged me more again. Also all agents were actively misrepresenting how fuel worked tricking people into paying for a full tank. It is shyster scam level stuff. Do not rent from them.

Actually giving me a hybrid as I paid for instead of partial hybrid. Having the windshield clean on the inside instead of what ever white residue was blinding me when other cars had their head lights on. Removing the awful smell in the car before giving it to customers.
Horrible customer service. Was told that I needed to wait to be called up in the queue when there was no one in line, which was shared between Thrifty kiosk. They should create two lines to decrease confusion. Representative was incredibly rude and short. They didn’t have the car I reserved and offered me a supposedly equivalent car which was fine but didn’t tell me that I would have to manually charge this car in order to benefit from the electric/hybrid option of the car. Ended up spending a lot on gas when I intentionally booked a hybrid to save money on gas.

Line at airport was EXTREMELY long. Extra help only showed up about an hour in to my wait.
Not a huge issue, but husband had to pay at pickup, unexpectedly, because Alamo couldn’t find the payment info I put in when booking the rental car. The reservation was in their system, just not the credit card associated with it. (not sure if it’s an issue with Expedia or Alamo) As a result, we didn’t get the 12% cash back that we factored into the price.

Quick and fast no hassle and was out from the facility in 10min. Car was super clean and amazing
No cars available at the time of my pickup. Car offered was not at the level I reserved. Car had intermittent issues - key fob battery was low, rear view camera sometimes cut out, trunk did not lock. Unlikely to book here again.

Frustrating. I ordered an midsized, they gave me an SUV and charged me an upgrade without telling me. The line was a mess to get the car and once I discovered their charge and disputed it the line took forever to resolve, almost missed my flight. Never again!

I ordered a car and ended up off the airport site. Very upset. Over 45 minutes before I got to the counter. Only two people working. I will never buy a car through them again.
