Pros: no van was not there staff was not helpful at all had to pay 70 dollars for cab
Pros: Diana at the counter was FANTASTIC!! Great English and made me feel welcome and comfortable!
Pros: Not a single thing
Cons: After showing up to the car rental place right after we landed from our flight - we were treated with disrespect and rudeness on how 1) our car wasn't available any longer 2) Refusing to listen to the car insurance that came with my credit card 3) Not willing to help or work with us but just wanted to charge us for every little thing. We then had to make our way back to the airport to rent from the Alamo there. It was the worst experience ever!
Cons: When we showed up - we were told no cars were available. It wasn’t just us, it was everyone in line. Total scam and it caused difficulties for us right at the beginning of our trip. Avoid!
Pros: Absolutely nothing was good. We showed up at the airport and were told that they had our reservation, but did not have a car for us. They said that their supply was low because of the pandemic (not sure) so that only people with reservations that had been booked directly with them and prepaid had a car for them. So, since we went through Kayak to CarRentals.com, we did not have a car.
Cons: We had to scramble to find a car last minute. Alamo knowingly let us show up to the airport with a reservation for which they had not intention of providing a car. They should have reached out to CarRentals.com or to us directly in advance so that we could make other arrangements.
Pros: The service team was very helpful and friendly.
Cons: Picking up and returning the car is a process and takes too much time. From doing the paperwork to reviewing/recording the condition of the car. Also, expect to pay for insurance. So, the cost quoted will not be what you pay.
Pros: Pros: Easy to get to from airport, most people speak English and are helpful.
Cons: Somehow I booked a rental for $120 online and it morphed into $322 at the office... they claim to require insurance and charge you an additional $37 PER DAY as an airport fee?? Ridiculous... whatever price you THINK you’re getting online won’t be the price in Mexico. These guys thrive on gouging tourists. The system is set up where you take a shuttle to their office, so I couldn’t even walk away and go get a rate from a competitor... they trap you into paying close to 3x what you booked. Honestly screw these guys. Turo might be more expensive but atleast you’ll pay the price you booked and not have mysterious fees that 3x the cost.
Cons: I reserved a car for a one week. At the airport, I was told there was no car. I had to rent a car from Hertz.
Pros: 1st, they did not have the car we had reserved online for us there.
2nd, They charged us an extra $25 PER DAY for third party liability insurance, which we carry personally and refused, but they charged us anyway. This was at the cancun airport.
Cons: An honest price online.
Pros: The Staff were kind but very overwhelmed.
Cons: With Covid Restrictions, a surge of Travellers and Not as Many Cars Available that they made Reservations For, the Check in Process was slow and tedious, and Check Out was a NIGHTmare. No clear signage. Once you returned your car and had it inspected you then had to wait in no clear line, along with the people who were trying to Check In and Receive their Car, so that they can take final payment. Obviously for people needing to catch flights, this is a NIGHTMARE. I ended up having to scream "Retourno" multiple times til a lady materialised from out back and took my payment. She was then bombarded by other people also trying to return cars. There is NO system at ALL, and completely different to Rental Car Experience in the US or UK.
Cons: Didn't have the vehicle, said we could not rent for the whole time and charged us more
Pros: The drop-off was fast and easy, but - ugh.
Cons: First off, there is a law in Mexico, that says if your insurance doesn't explicitly cover liability IN MEXICO, then you need to purchase their insurance - at about $25/day. The insurance ended up costing double the rental! We rented every year in MX, from 2016-2019, and never had to buy that. They will not rent you the vehicle without it, and said that it is a FELONY to drive without this explicit Mexican liability insurance. Second off, the Nissan March was a jalopy. It had noises and rattles like you wouldn't believe. How could they let a car go out like that? We were embarrassed to give it to the valet at the resort. Fortunately, I know enough Spanish colorful metaphors to deflect the embarrassment.
