I had a reservation and I got their before 9:00am and they saw that I had a reservation; but said they had a glitch in their system and put me on a list and try helping me and hid in the back behind a door in office and said we will not have a car into after 1:00 pm and totally left me hanging!! I had to get to work and had no ride? It was a horrible day!! ThanksReviewed 2022 Jul 16

I could not find my driver's license, so I was not able to rent the car after having made a reservation in advance. I COMPLETELY understand and agree that it was my fault. However, because the car was not taken out of the lot, I should not have been made to pay the insurance or taxes, etc.Reviewed 2022 Jun 16

Meeting daughter in Reno (both flying in), my flight delayed so I call Hertz to add her as a driver so they could use car to leave airport and eat a meal. No joy whatsoever, person understood the issue but said no way. Said do it when you get to the counter (well I am going to be at 30,000 ft when they arrive. Fortunately my daughter persisted and went to the Hertz counter and since she has not yet converted her ID to her married name she talked them into giving her the car. Reserved a Premium class car, we had 5 people and was not as big as I thought a premiums car would be. Does seat 5 so we made it work. Trunk was small for rated 4 bags (especially when two are female with lots of stuff). So bags were on laps.Reviewed 2022 Jun 08

So many things were horrible with this rental. First, we didn’t realize it was offsite pickup. That would have been ok, but for the fact they have no shuttle. We had to get a taxi to take us there. Uber wanted $23 to go 2 miles. Then, the car was dirty inside - had not been vacuumed at all. It was impossible to adjust the seat to make it comfortable. When we were in Tahoe, a light came on - “Engine Malfunction - get inspection!” This was pretty scary. It took 3 calls over 45 minutes to get roadside assistance on the line. He told us to take the car to the Hertz rental at the Ritz Carlton in Tahoe, or the one at the Truckee airport. The next day, I called both locations (Googled their numbers), and neither number was correct. I then called customer support, but couldn’t reach anyone. I called every number on the rental agreement (5 different ones), but all went to the same automated number where you can’t speak to anyone. I called roadside assistance again, but an automated message told me there was no one to help me, and then disconnected me. I finally called the location I rented the car from and she told me there were no Hertz locations at either location, and didn’t know why roadside assistance told me there were alternate locations. I then asked her what to do since I wasn’t able to reach roadside assistance. She told me that if the car broke down, to call roadside assistance for a tow. I asked her how we get back to Reno, and she said to ride in the tow truck. I told her that my mother and I were traveling together with four pieces of luggage, and we’d never fit in a tow truck. She told me they wouldn’t pay for a taxi or Uber. This was Hertz, not a half-rate company. It was extremely disappointing from the company that prides itself for being number one!Reviewed 2022 May 02

No transportation either to or from this offsite Hertz. Was assured a ride was available back to airport when picking up, but was told that was "impossible" when dropping off. Nearest Lyft/Uber/Taxi was over 30 minutes away so me and another renter had to speed walk the 2 miles to the airport with our luggage and skis. Not worth saving a few bucks for the massive inconvenience.Reviewed 2022 Mar 08

The person at pick up was unfriendly and unhelpful. I was not told the drop off location would be closed the day of drop off.Reviewed 2022 Mar 07

The wipers on the car were dangerously horrible, and we got caught in a rain and snow storm. The scraper given to us was also really bad, and we felt unsafe trying to travel. However, the service was amazing and the car we were given was so cute and fit what we needed!Reviewed 2022 Feb 28

Our rental was from Friday - Sunday. We were not told that they were closed on Sunday, nor were we told that we needed to return our rental agreement. When we went to return the car on Sunday, the office was closed. There was a drop box for the rental agreement and the keys, however, we had left the rental agreement at our hotel. We had to drive back to our hotel, pick up the paperwork, and drive back. Then we saw the note on the drop box that said (essentially), you can drop the paperwork and keys, but we're still going to charge you until the next business day and you're still responsible if any damage occurs. Not cool. I would rent from Hertz again, but I'll definitely rent on-airport so I know a person will be there to take possession of the car.Reviewed 2022 Feb 07

First of when I arrived to hertz they tell me they don’t have any cars available and then after I show them my reservation thru kayak they give me a look of annoyance and tell me they don’t have a car ready at the moment. They proceeded to tell me I needed to wait for a vehicle to be cleaned. After waiting 30 mins then they go on to tell me my reservation was no good unless it was 24 hours in advance even though there was clearly plentiful of available car rentals on the parking lot. They lie thru their teeth just so they don’t have to lift a finger even if means ruining your car reservation leaving you empty handed trying to find another car rental at a last minutes notice. Do not rent from hertz they will not honored reservations.Reviewed 2021 Dec 04
