The car I reserved, full size SUV Ford Expidition waa not avaiable as promoted. I had 4 passengers with 8 pieces of luggage so I needed a full size SUV. Instead a Toyota Highlander was offered as a substitute or I would have to wait potentially several hours for the car I reserved. I didn' have , the time to wait. I ended up in an undersized very cramped car for a 14 hour drive from NY to Atlanta,, GA.Reviewed 2026 Jul 23

I was flying to Newark. My flight said Newark. Kayak and Expedia via Kayak booked me a car in New York. Worse, I was not able to modify it. I believe this the be an issue with Expedia and Kayak, but still. Thrifty needs to do a better job monitoring the websites that allow booking Thrifty cars.Reviewed 2024 Nov 13

Reservation was confirmed. I took the Air Train to the car rental location. There was a hand written sign saying they were out of cars and no reservations were being honored. They should not accept reservations if they have no cars. It was like a scene from Seinfeld! They take the reservation but they don’t HOLD the reservation.Reviewed 2024 Aug 07

They did not give me my rental vehicle. They said because I didn’t make the reservation 24hrs in advance, that it wasn’t valid. Left me, my wife, and 1 year old child stranded in New York. Wouldn’t rent us a car seat so we could take a taxi or Lyft. Completely cold. Worst experience.Reviewed 2024 Aug 06

The day that I arrived there was a shortage of cars at Thrifty, which caused a significant delay for everyone getting their rentals. This was due to an earlier weeks earthquake in New York. Although this was dissapointing as I could not leave for my destination until I received my car, but I have to applaud Thrify employees for keeping good attitude and taking the time to explain to everyone why there is a delay, and that they are doing everything they can to get us out of there.
