We reserved a car twice through Thrifty at the Montevideo airport. The first time they responded that they couldn't fulfill our reservation. Then we saw availability again, and reserved again. This time no reply, but we called to confirm with them a few days later. They said they did not have any cars available and could not fulfill our request. The credit card hold amount is very high. It appears that is standard for Ireland. Taking the full insurance is a good idea anyway, and lowers the cost. Service was very good all round.Reviewed 2026 Jan 07

Instead of blocking the security deposit amount on my credit card, like everyone else does, they made a payment equal to the security deposit and then, sometime after I returned the car, processed a refund. This resulted in me losing about 12% of the money to the bank to cover the exchange rate differences.Reviewed 2026 Jan 05

Was charged $20 extra to have snow tires which is ridiculous. Ordered an suv and was given the smallest one possible. Didn’t qualify as a sub for my family of 4. So small we couldn’t fit our luggage in. I will do my best to choose another company as Thriftys sizing of their cars is not normal .Reviewed 2026 Jan 01
