The SUV we got was dirty and had big dent in the hood. I took pictures at pick up to make sure I had these damages documented. The inside was not clean- my 2 year old got In and while I was putting the baby in the car he found someone’s used chap stick and started putting it on his lips. I was not impressed. If I wasn’t traveling with my 4 kids (3 of them 4 and under) I would have went back into the office to ask for a different vehicle.Reviewed 2025 Mar 31

Our plane landed at 6:00 PM. Your remote pickup, about 5 miles from the airport, closed at 6:00 with no recourse to pick up the car we' paid or elsewhere, nor were we make aware when we booked of the 6:00 closure, even though our pick up time would have conflicted. Calls to the Payless "helpline" (there's a mis-nomer if ever there was one) fell on totally unconcerned ears. We had to pay that night for an Uber to our hotel, then again the next day for another uber to pick up the car. I hope you don't expect me to ever use payless again.Reviewed 2024 Mar 27

Wanted to extend rental for 3 days. Called Payless # on receipt pamphlet. I was told it was Budget line and they did not handle Payless. When I questioned the pamphlet # I was told " must be a misprint. I then went to Ft Myers desk at airport and told me I had to "return car and re-rent" costing me 4x the amount $. Kayak falsely advertised my Payless rental as "in terminal" at Fort Myers, it was not, the location was 15 miles away without shuttle service and closed 10 minutes after I landed. I had to rent an entirely different vehicle at almost twice the price. Payless would not return my calls, I had to dispute the charges with AmexReviewed 2023 Oct 16

Cons:Worst rental experience ever. Waited over 2 1/2 hours to get a car and then they did not have what we pre ordered. Pros:Staff was friendly. Car ran well and the return experience was fine.Cons:The line was entirely too long at Fort Meyers. I waited an hour in line to get to an agent. Pros:Drop off was easyCons:Ok...where should I start? For starters they didn't have the car I reserved. However, I did start at the wrong Payless location so I will take partial blame. I still feel like they could of provided a better car. The car I received was disgustingly dirty, one headlight was out, and the smell of cigar smoke was awful. I called many times to complain and try to get the headlight fixed, but the customer service was pathetic at best. Never fully understanding my issue. I ended up popping the hood and fixing the headlight myself. I will NEVER.....NEVER EVER NEVER EVER rent through Payless again.Reviewed 2021 Mar 29
