Very quick and easy pick up and drop off, which is exactly what I needed for this trip. Courteous and pleasant agents. At no extra cost, the issuing agent gave us a slightly bigger car in the same class as the one I’d ordered when he saw all our luggage!Reviewed 2026 Sept 18

They didn't honor the Ford Transit I'd reserved and instead offered me a minivan. I arrived at the counter and they told me if I wanted the car I reserved, I'd need to pay an ADDITIONAL $105 per day for an "upgrade." I showed them the email that identified that I had booked a Transit. They didn't care. The manager was extremely rude and ran off when I asked them to honor the original reservation. This was extremely disruptive because I'd a trip planned that included 9 passengers. I did NOT reserve a minivan, but a 12-passenger van because of this reason. I think potentially Kayak messed up this reservation (putting the transit as a preference not a requirement). However, my email confirmation said Transit. Either way i didn't get the car, my reservation was canceled, and I was left scrambling. That DCA Thrify location was the absolute worst customer experience I had ever had.Reviewed 2026 Sept 17

Hertz rep at the counter argued I booked the wrong category and proposed me a smaller compact car while my booking clearly mentioned suv compact. Finally managed to get it after arguing with him who «kindly » proposed me the proper car « for free ». The car park was full of suv compact cars so definitely not a shortage issue.
