The car I picked up was completely on empty and smelled so badly of Marijuana that it made me sick by the time I returned the vehicle in Orlando. It was also very dirty.Reviewed 2024 Jan 21

We reserved a truck two weeks ahead of time to help my mother move. Hertz features trucks on its website, complete with pricing. We got a confirmation email with a confirmation number. A couple of days before the rental we got another email, confirming the reservation and reminding us to pick up the truck. We got to the rental office at the appointed time and was told "We have no trucks." I showed them the reservation confirmation and the associate and another she called over both insisted they had no trucks. The pad on the counter that showed various vehicles available even featured trucks. They shrugged and said there was nothing they could do. another associate, overhearing the conversation, came over and said "Let me see what I can do." He began calling other hertz locations in the area and finally found one 30 miles away that had just had a truck returned. He asked them to hold it for us and we drove the extra 30 miles to pick it up.Reviewed 2022 Nov 17

Staff at Fayetteville were terrible. Greensboro staff was knowledgeable, but first car was not cleaned and ended up with electrical issues and we had to return to Greensboro. Lost over 4 hours on road to backtrack. Next car was also not sealed after sanitizing and was 1,400 miles and 5 months overdue for oil change. THIRD car was fine. Pros:I had reserved a car for travel. When I arrived I was told there was no car available. I had to drive to the airport and try to find a rental there. The young man there was very helpful and polite. He helped me find a car but the entire process was very frustrating. Time consuming and frustrating.Cons:When you reserve a car for a trip you expect to have a car reserved. It was poorly handled and I am not sure how you can get away with not honoring a confirmation. I feel quite sure I am not the only one this has happened to as we witnessed another customer being told the same thing. I am not sure how your company finds this acceptable in this day and time with as much feed back that customers are able to express on social media. Individuals plans and itineraries are extremely important to them when they need a car for traveling. I have also tried to reach someone by phone today unsuccessfully. Cons:I will never rent from this company again!!! It has the worst customer service ever!! I spent over 4 hours on the phone..... 3 separate calls .... to see if I could get a larger vehicle. Long story short... I didn’t get a larger vehicle AND I was charged $100 to cancel the reservation. The company basically stole $100.
