Top tips for renting a car from Alamo in Houston

  • Houston, Texas, covers 672 square miles. To put that into perspective, that makes Houston more than twice as large as New York City, in terms of size. Because the city is so large, you should try not to put yourself in a position where you don’t have access to a vehicle when you’re in town. It’s a good idea for anyone visiting the area to book Alamo car rentals in Houston. You’ll be able to travel around within Houston and even make your way to other parts of Texas when you have the keys to a rental car from Alamo available to you.
  • The good news for those visiting Houston is that the temperature doesn’t hit the 100-degree mark very often. The bad news is that it’s at least 90 degrees in Houston, about 100 days of the year, on average. With this in mind, you might want to shy away from renting a convertible and stick to renting a car where you’ll be able to keep cool. A small compact or intermediate car could do the trick as long as you aren’t traveling with other people and need extra space. If that's the case, a small SUV or a luxury vehicle might be a better option.
  • Since Houston is so large, you may think traffic would be minimal, due to people being so spread out. But Houstonians have to endure their fair share of congestion on the local roads, and you’ll have to deal with it, too, when you’re visiting the city. One good reason to consider renting a small car when you book Alamo car rentals in Houston, is that you can more easily maneuver through heavy traffic. It’s also a good idea to consider asking Alamo if you can rent a GPS system that will keep you on the right path, and prevent you from getting stuck in traffic jams unnecessarily.
  • Alamo has one of the best customer service departments in the rental car industry, so you shouldn’t be afraid to take advantage of it. If you have any questions about a current reservation, you should reach out to a customer service representative from Alamo. They can modify a reservation or help you cancel it if you don’t need it anymore, without forcing you to pay any cancellation fees in the process.
  • Small rental cars from Alamo in Houston are around 53% cheaper than other car types, on average.

The van had a dirty windshield and we had to ask for it to be cleaned when we picked it up. More importantly we were told to bring it back with a full tank but we were given a van with a half tank and had to ask them to fill the tank. Their preparation of the van needs improvement.Reviewed 2024 Aug 23

This is honestly the easiest best rental car experience I’ve ever had. It was quick to check in/pick up and even easier to drop off. What I really liked was the fact that I got to literally just go pick a car on my own, not be told which car I’m getting. It felt cool to walk down an Isle of cars and be able to get into whichever one I like!Reviewed 2024 Jul 08

New Jeep Compass had the new car smell. Clean and easy pickup and drop off. The trunk was pretty small but we were able to work it out. I was surprised to have a$300 deposit taken on top of the $500 rental fee. I’m waiting on the deposit return now. I just turned in the car yesterday.Reviewed 2023 Dec 27
