Be careful when renting from Budget in LA. These guys add a “fuel option” to your bill — they say it will not be charged unless you return it with the fuel tank empty. This is NOT TRUE. If you bring it back full, they will still charge you the $100+ for the fuel option unless you physically go to the office to dispute the charge. The guy at the counter even told me that this is a way the guys at the counter “try to make more money” — so be aware.Reviewed 2025 Sept 15

Went to counter. Paid for a car, went to lot to spot where the cas should have Bennett’s and nothing, empty spot. Took attendant almost 2 hours to find me a car. They did not provide the vehicle I reserved. They didn't even provide a similar/upgraded vehicle. They gave me the rental 45 minutes late even though I was on time. I had to call their customer support to be reimbursed the difference I was owed. It took 2 hours of my life away and I caught them in several lies in the process, I will not do business with Budget Car rentals or their affiliates (Avis and Payless) in the foreseeable future.Reviewed 2025 Jul 19

At the new LAX rental depot, we waited in line for 2 full hours. They had 25 kiosks/stations for registration, but only 6-7 agents working them. Then, our car (Buick Encore with 20K miles) completely shut down as we drove off the lot. No power or electricity. Never experienced this before… Had to get a tow and a replacement which took another hour. Staff were helpful and kind but clearly understaffed and overworked. They eventually got us into a brand new car on the second try. Return went smoothly.Reviewed 2025 Jun 24
